There is a way to shrink it, yes. It's called 'Wii Scrubber'. 4.7GB is the highest capacity for a disc unless it is dual-layered, in which case it doubles the size. Just Google 'Wii Scrubber' and you'll find it.

You need a "Dual Layer" disk. Probably layered DVD+R DL or something like that. They're much more expensive than the normal disks, and probably come in at most a 5 pack. Expect to spend $5 at least on a single disk.

Oh right, the DVD9 version...so that's why it would take a week...Anyway.

Ignore my last post. That won't help. Go and find the DVD5 version. That will have bits stripped out of it (such as the Subspace Emissary), but it will fit onto a single-layered disc.

So you have two options. Get a DL disc and burn it (you will also need a dual layer burner of course)
or download the dvd5 version. The subspace emissary mode has been stripped of the movies in that version, but it will still be playable.

You should just ask the store for a Dual Layer. They should only cost you about $4US. You'd most likely have a Dual Layer DVD Burner if you purchased it in the last 2-3 years.
