Hacking What is the battery in the wii for?

I've just realized that one of my wii's is missing it's battery. What is it for and will it hamper game playing, either through USB loader, DVD drive and or homebrew channel.

it's for the clock and date settings. you wont be able to play animal crossing without a batt.

thanks bladexdsl, ive lost the tray that goes inside the wii, therefore also the battery. Any chance people know where to get one.

they're one dollar at the nintendo store for the tray, and you could probably find a new battery at any convenience store that'll probably run you about 10 bucks or so, just have to find out what kind to use.

Well, more like $5, but yeah, those little button batteries are outrageously priced.

The battery is a CR2032. It's a 3V Lithium battery.
