What Are You Getting For Father's Day?

For years, it was always the same: lottery tickets, short-sleeved oxford shirts, cologne, etc. At some point, I began to drop "hints." "Man," I wished out loud, "I wish I had a mini screwdriver kit about now." Alas, every year I am both surprised and dumbfounded by my Father's Day bounty. Don't get me wrong; I'm not ungrateful. Protocol dictates that I should get a tie, and I am happy to report that I have never received one; which is good because I don't wear them.

Unlike Mother's Day (which usually involves flowers, candy and a restaurant outing), Father's Day is a mish-mosh day of last minute techy gift purchases that leave both sides smiling amicably; much like being a dad.

So what are you getting, GBATemp? Any ideas? Personally, I'm hoping for a Windows 8 tablet, but will be more than content with an eyeglass repair kit, an SD card reader shaped like Homer Simpson or a food dehydrator.

To the best of my knowledge (and greatest of hopes) I am not a father. Traditionally I have treated father's/mother's day as greeting card holidays (though anything other than birthdays and Christmas I treat as a greeting card holiday) and maybe got something small and token which they may find useful (I figure nobody needs a cheap cup with an expensive paint job). That said I am eying up the complete set of the wire if I can be bothered to speak to my siblings to get something organised.

It's rather impossible to shop for my father, as he is a man who fulfills his own needs and wants. Even asking him directly what he'd like to have for Father's Day is hard, because he has no idea. I've managed to snag a few things for him based on things he complains about, so hopefully this year will be an actual good one and not one of those "Oh...yeah...thanks".

Err, I was kinda hoping to hear from some Temp dads about what they suspect they will receive; but this works too, I guess.

My Dad's been gone for a long time now and I have no kids. I don't get that day off at work, so it's an unrecognized holiday for me.
