Yea I know, that doesn't answer my third question(s) though. I'm gonna go ahead and assume It *does* allow check-in and it *does* require an NNID (unlike any other game?)Gateway can play eshop games as .3ds files

Holy hell reply overload
Anyways, I already have OoT 3D. Or rather I have a friend who said he'll give it to me.
For the OoT 3D method do I need anything else?
Also, for space for games I want to get a 128 GB SD card. Both Gateway and my 3DS will support this right? I heard read speed matters a lot, what brand should I get?
Well it asks for the NNID when you get it from the eShop so I don't really know at what point the game will say 'nup, need your NNID before we keep going here' but I assume you actually /have/ a NNID on your emunand so it would probarbly just default to using that. Where I was going with it was that I was wondering if they had put checks in place to prevent running it on a system without an associated NNID. I assume they have. I'll sauce it myself and playaround. Thanks for the heads up that it exists.I never played the game before. How long do I need to play into it to check that stuff for you

You need either a save dongle or a couple minutes with a normal 3ds/normal 3ds xl that can run the gateway menu.
A couple of things are going on here. 9.6 is more than your typical "system stability" update. It fixes the holes in the cryptography introduced in 9.5 (remember when GW was unsure about 9.5 emunand period?). So they somehow need to obtain the keys for it and that is not easy. This could potentially be a very long wait or even game over. This is not really going to be a problem for GW users until games are released that require >9.5 and that will likely be at least six months or longer before those start to appear. So why is everyone freaking the fuck out that emunand was blocked? You can play online without updating and any eshop item can be installed through cia.
Confusing me now...
Will I need a save dongle for Cube Ninja?
Will I need a save dongle for Cube Ninja?
The past three days from what people told me and what I read online everyone recommended buying a New 3DS on the proper firmware and getting gateway and all the things necessary for it instead of getting a Sky3DS, how Gateway was future proof while Sky3DS can easily be patched.
Then I spent HOURS searching for stores nearby me and having them check the batch number to make sure I can get one that's under 9.2
And now that I literally bought my N3DSXL 15 minutes ago, it turns out that Gateway has been screwed over in the 2 hours it took for me to go out and come back home
Should I just return it and try to get an original 3DSXL and hope that it's <9.2 or just get a Sky3DS?
This shit doesn't make any sense, wtf are you saying? How does GW not work for you, or how did GW get screwed over in 2hrs?
You only need the save dongle or access to a old 3ds/old 3ds xl that is gateway compatible only one time (ask your friend for his firmware version on his 3ds)
His version is 9.5
Can I use a DS Lite?
Not necessarily.no. It must be a 3ds or 3ds xl that is 9.2 or under so you can prepare the cartridge.

You "only" need a NNID to check in, the eShop requiring one is because it's free to download...Well it asks for the NNID when you get it from the eShop so I don't really know at what point the game will say 'nup, need your NNID before we keep going here'
So far, Sky3DS has proven itself to be future-proof. Buying one Wednesday.
Only because Nintendo has been targetting Gateway and leaving Sky3DS alone. Sky3DS is not future-proof. Mark my words ...
