Pokemon Shuffle is the one and only reason. Annnnd unfortunately I'm addicted to it :(

From what I can tell with Pokemon Shuffle is the game updates itself, doesn't do the updating we are accustom to. Why I say this (and of course I can be wrong) is because 2 days ago it was on version 1.1.4 and today I noticed it was on 1.1.5. I did not update it, no one else touches my 3DS. Also I have no problem checking in since the new firmware went out and I'm of course, only 9.5.

So i think Pokemon Shuffle will survive this.

Yup, it survived, I still can use it just fine on 9.5, and it updated today.

The Check-in process does two things, normal check in and in-game application patching. If there's a new version of the game though i'm pretty sure it does a system menu version check. I'm fairly certain that when 9.5.00-23 came out (as opposed to 9.5.00-22) that I was forced into doing an update to get the new game version.
So basically until GW supports 9.6 the 'check in' function will be broken. This prevents things like the daily pokemon and the daily check-in bonus (500g, then 1000g if you do 10 in a row) from working.
If you are sure you only have 1.1.4 yesterday though I could be wrong, but I thought I had 1.1.5 yesterday as that was the update that added the reward for the global event (mega Lucario) as well as the 15 new stages/levels
If I'm right then we have until they release 1.1.6 before out check-in breaks and we're at the mercy of GW's update to support 9.6 to resume normal gameplay.

edit- some more responses while I was typing this up. Seems a few people didn't update to 1.1.5 till today and it worked without the system update so I guess I was taking crazy pills when I thought I'd needed to update to 9.5.00-23 to update the game. What doesn't make sense there, how did they stop the web browser exploit then? Or are there still people on 9.5.00-22 sysnand who can just cheat at this game for life without nintendo being able to force them to update??? If that's the case then a system like that, on that specific version with this game installed already could be worth a lot of money to a shuffle-fan (read - whale) on ebay or something. I mean there's people who would pay thousands into this game and if they can just go but a system that can cheat at it...

So why is everyone freaking the fuck out that emunand was blocked? You can play online without updating and any eshop item can be installed through cia.

Confusing me now...

Interesting, and we will find out if that is the case. Hopefully not, because I'm like ranked 119,864 and moving up fast!!!! =)

Eshop is really just a 'nice to have' feature that Sky users can enjoy on their own for a while until gateway updates. I'd still take the ability to run CIA/homebrew etc. over that any day. As I said earlier in the thread if gateway went out of business today I wouldn't really mind, everything except eshop and future 9.6-required games would be all that would ever be lost.

But everything in eshop can be installed with cia.

Maybe that many people still need to do system transfer. GBAtemp people are weird sometimes...

and even from a moral perspective if you were to say, 'procure' said titles from other sources with the intention of purchasing them when the shop becomes available again... I think Jesus would be cool with that y'know...

Yeah, That what happened with majora's mask. But if I intend to do a system software I won't have to reinstall everything.

I see it as Gateway+CN = same price as sky3ds.

Gateway throws in a free ds flashcart (use flashcart time warp to get it working)

Holy hell reply overload

Anyways, I already have OoT 3D. Or rather I have a friend who said he'll give it to me.

For the OoT 3D method do I need anything else?

Also, for space for games I want to get a 128 GB SD card. Both Gateway and my 3DS will support this right? I heard read speed matters a lot, what brand should I get?
