It just dawned on me but the 360 pro model with the 60 gig drive, that has to have the liteon I am looking for no? It came after the jasper and was discontinued before the newer liteons.... I think...

The arcade was behind glass so I didn't look at the born on date, plus I have a 120Gb drive but now I think about it my kids could use the 60gig if thats what it comes down to.

Haven't been on live for some time now, i should be safe in the sense i just want to update my gamescore by logging into live right ?

i.e. i don't have any intention of playing games when my xbox is on live.

may already have been mentioned, but looking a the 20 or so pages of text, can anyone clarify how MS was able to detect so many of us?

You log in, you run the risk of getting banned. You could have been flagged for a while now and then when you log on, ban. So you have to ask yourself, is it worth risking losing hdd installs, to update your gamescore.

Hi all was doing a bit of google about xbox ban's and come accross this site so hi to all
smile.gif
!

I have error 54420 on my modded console but when i check my unmodded console i get through np's i am from UK the UK site work's fine but it's the US site that has me flagged for ban i guess?

Also a quick question i have my unmodded xbox downstair's for streaming purpose's, so if i don't connect to live anymore on my modded xbox and i make an offline account for streaming will it keep the Window's Center Player functional so i can swap xbox's around just my friend got banned and said he could not use it.

Also what is this about being able to get acheivement's on my modded xbox and being able to transfer them to my unmodded xbox?Would i say be able to make a new account on my unmodded xbox then when i play on my modded xbox take the drive from my unmodded xbox put in the modded xbox get the acheiv's then take it from modded xbox slap it back in my unmodded and it will update with those ahceiv's? Could this not cause a ban?

Many thank's.

@ WeaponXxX, been a while, back on topic it was late July that the unmoddable 8 series drives first appeared (and it took somewhat longer for them to filter down into the main supply chain; they were first seen in repair shops). Not sure I can elaborate on the models and their manufacture range although the usual "elites often sit on shelves for months (I could possibly pick up a 2008 elite around here)" line is being thrown in.
If hard drives are a problem the 250 gig HDSS.bin appeared a few days back and with modern software it is about as easy to make a 360 hard drive as it is to spoof a DVD drive (not as easy as a plain flash but nothing outrageous). Compatible drives run to about the same price as a 120 gig drive and that is set to be even cheaper now some more compatible models have been discovered.

@Maz7006 if you are up for it you might want to see about trying my theory out. I posited that the nand is what stores the "banned" flag, by restoring an older image (but still one within range and untampered with) the console would surely not register as banned internally (externally is a different matter).
On the flip side as Armadillo said it is only gamerscore, not like it is something important or even that worthwhile. Now we have something to lose it changes things.

@olliepop2000 I keep meaning to try VPN but I will mention ping limits are set quite low so it may be same town/network segment only.

@Rocketronnie first question: it might be as simple as it thinking you have an import.
second question: it seems to be the case that banned 360s losing streaming ability. I have no info on whether an offline account will still see enough action to bring a ban so it might be worth setting subnets and the like to disallow external (internet) access but allow internal (lan- streaming) or otherwhile routing the live ports away from the 360, we had a similar question the other day if you look around this section.
Third question: if I can stifle the giggles long enough to answer why would you possibly do such a thing? Modding for achievements is possible (a stupid idea even if I thought achievements were worthwhile) but the whole profiles/revoked thing may have changed the ability to do this as far as transferring profiles is concerned.

FAST thanks again, only wish if there is a way i could possibly know im flagged, and i can tell you from now, i think i have a great possibility that i am; its just a sinking feeling but i feel like i have gone wrong somewhere, i have just finished reading through all the pages, Shaun has pretty much verified it for me, doesn't really matter.

Now if there was only a reliable way to check if im flagged...

I couldn't give that much attention to gamescore, its more like using the extra dashboard updates when they come out, twitter, facebook etc

The ONLY time i was on live, when i had a game in my console is when i tried if my poor internet would allow me to play on live. My pings were terrible, and ive never been on live since, just signed in from time to time to update and check gamescore, so in theory, i shouldnt worry that much, should I

Note when i tried to play on live that was like back in july.

EDIT: If it makes any difference, i received mail from xbox this morning advertising their games, specifically MW2

EDIT # 2: im getting that error 54420 when i register my console and request a repair, fuck facebook and twitter, forget about it, id rather have all my stuff not corrupt now, heck i can probably sell this one, saying its fine, and then just get another one, muhahahh

Me and two other friends have finally been banned. Two and a half years.

All the money I saved will be going towards a new 360, I'll be buying all games I want to play online from now on.

To add to this topic, we all stayed away from pre-release games and used proper stealthed copies when we did play backups online. It seems as if MS has finally found a way to detect the firmware itself.

Essentially, once you're banned, your xbox ID/key is banned. Putting the original firmware back on the drive won't stop that, although if you can make it look like it's never been opened, you can potentially get away with hawking it off to the local game exchange or even trying M$ repairs. The latter prolly won't get you anywhere because they'll probably check if it's banned and not give it back because of ToS, but it still might be worth a try if nothing else works.

Or just take it like a pirate and play your games on it anyway! There's nothing stopping you, right? Not even any point in trying to stealth games anymore, so that's one hassle less to worry about!

@JKR Firefox: You said from now on you'll be buying the games you want to play online... but I'm sure you realize that you'll still be at risk by just having a flashed 360. Unless you meant that you'll be going full legit from now on... in that case, you'll be fine

I'm gonna try to do that Microsoft repair thing and see what it says about my console. I'll report the results later.

whoah im surprised, i've been playing mw2 patched to wave 3 for the past week or so. still not banned.
Because Gamestops all in my area have been leaking copies to the general public since last Friday.. Although I don't know about having it patched down a wave, I hear that's kinda risky for live.

Just checked, I got "error 54420". :< Guess I need a new 360.
EDIT: Actually, I'm gonna wait for this new "LT" firmware to come out. Then I'll go buy a new Arcade, exchange cases, and flash it with the "undetectable firmware" (haven't they boasted about all the current firmwares being undetectable?)

C4eva might as well bring out a firmware that will play anything, seeing it's too late for many of us and doesn't matter about stealth anymore; at least we won't have to keep reflashing when a new wave comes out then. Gutted the jtag hack won't work now, unless they suss out a way of getting it to work on post Sept 09 dashboard and bootloader updates.
