It has potential to be a great game! I would like to see open environments like the forest or the farm (kinda like Alan Wake).

Activision licensed title...they tend to be awful. However occasionally they can get their devs to do something good if they give them enough time to do so.

It's Terminal Reality developing and their games tend to be decent to meh. They have some great ideas for the games but sometimes they are really poorly implemented, see Ghostbusters (PC/360 one), Blair Witch Project Vol 1, BloodRayne, Nocturne etc.

I'm on board with the setting, I think its a very good idea but to be honest I'm expecting at best a 7/10 game unless Terminal Reality have stepped up their game but to be honest they already have two games in development that won't be out until next year so I don't know where their priorities lie, either with their own titles or with something like this which could be on of those "job to hire" deals.

I really doubt it'll be as good as Telltale's episodes as for me they really nailed the comic series.

I'm so glad we're getting another zombie-based FPS game! It's been so long since we last had one of those! :creep:
I think it's about time that we had some games where you like played a soldier and fought in some modern day wars.

...When was the last time we had a zombie-based FPS (where they are the central focus) game?

I think the most recent one was Dead Island last year, with the next one being the Zombie WiiU game. That's a space of a year (give or take), which really isn't so bad.

...umm, part of the charm of The Walking Dead is that you get stuck with a shitload of zombies and little to no ammo.

I don't see how that works with an FPS game where you turn it into a shootfest. It might as well be Left 4 Dead all over again.

They said ammo is hard to find, and it's more survival.

I'll approach this with optimism and skepticism. I really love the show and I thought Telltale did a really fantastic job on the point-and-click games. Not that I hate the FPS genre, but I don't see it suiting TWD. TWD is a character drama with zombies as a stage setter. I feel like a FPS game would try to make it more actiony that it is.

Personally I'd like a Mass Effect-style approach to it but combine elements of survival horror games like Resident Evil (I think a less action-oriented version of 6's gameplay would work well) and keep the Mass Effect style dialogue choices.

EDIT: The devs behind this also made Kinect Star Wars.

Well, you had a good run.

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
