It's in closed beta right now and you have to apply to get in.
Download the app and sign in to request getting into the beta.

You can access and talk to people on your friend list (!!!), browse the store so you can waste your money while travelling, check Steam news, videos, screenshots, etc.

I've installed it on both my iPod Touch and ZTE Blade, it's very fast and responsive (ON THE LOGIN SCREEN AT LEAST). Automagic SteamGuard is a rather cool touch.

finanly no more shitty and questionable 3rd party apps, and it has steam guard login which is good

it appears once signed in you may get an email that you are in the beta until then the app is useless

Oh cool, maybe this will at least FUCKING WORK! Steam hasn't worked on this PC and since they refuse to fix this bug (which is very frequent and lots of people have it), I ditched Steam. Fuck off, lazy ass devs.

This'll probably give me a lot of hate, but fuck it, Valve fucked up (and still fucks up) in my book.

That's mentioned in the OP, a tad annoying but it's probably better than nothing. Now if only they would release a few mobile games (they have a few 'HD' versions of some iPhone/Android apps).
I'm sorry, what? Care to elaborate as to what your problem actually is? Also please check support and/or the user forums.

Aww sweet, I've always wanted to use Steam on my (currently imaginary) smartphone.

    What exact bug?

I know what the fix is, but it's a temporary fix. 2 months later, the same thing happens. And I (not them) have to go through the hassle of fixing the problem again, downloading all kinds of updates (several GB usually....) and installing Steam again.
I've had this problem for the past 3 years, and loads of other people too, but the problem is still there. Their 'solution' is to just uninstall some software which are causing these problems, but their softwarelist is just enormous and I refuse to throw all that software away just to keep Steam running.

I still don't understand your problem.
Is it simply not opening? Is it giving some error? Is it being a bitch and complaining about not being online?
Whatever this "bug" is, I'm pretty sure that we can fix it and change your opinion on Steam.

I don't have Steam anymore but I think it was this error:

Steam.exe (main exception): ERROR: delete of Steam.exe failed

I did the fix they posted there a few times:
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

Usually a few months after this 'fix' it again hangs at 27% while booting/updating and then it's just fucked up again, won't boot, same error.
Also took a look at the their list of programs that may interfere with Steam. But removing all those programs just for this one program to work is too much effort.

Looks like the real issue there is having UAC turned on in the first place. Useless protection IMO.

And the programs that 'may interfere' just about never do, from what I've seen. Even with them installed they're very rarely a part of the problem.

Nice; once this is out of beta (or I get in) it'll be a nice addition.

I don't think I'd find a good use for this.

    lolwut?

If it was UAC then everybody with UAC on would have it... but they don't.

You do NOT want to get me started on what you just said..

you're one of those people that complain for the sake of complaining aren't you.
they aren't telling you to remove every single one of those applications, hell they give you reasons why it interferes with Steam. They can't do anything about it.

On the subject of programs interfering. Windows Media Center would stop you from using cheats on Oblivion...

There are thousands of people having this error, for years, and they refuse to fix it. They give is a very long list with not that much info (just the name of the program) and that's all.
I would expect such a company with so many great sales and a good reputation to fix that after so much time, but no, they just don't care enough. It's their loss, reason I didn't buy Skyrim, but had to pirate it. Reason I didn't buy BLOPS and MW3, pirated it.

Scroll down the list and you will see WHY they cannot fix this

The programs themselves mess up Steam. They can't do ANYTHING about it.
It's like when you install a faulty addon for Firefox and it messes everything up. Whose fault is it, Mozilla or the addon?
I know this is a bad comparison but I'm trying to get you to see that Valve isn't responsible for this nor should they care.

Actually it's nothing like that Firefox thingy (seeing the add-ons run ON Firefox, while AVG doesn't run ON Steam), but I know where you're going. But why can't Steam alter the way their program work, instead of the other way around? Steam has a crapload of updates everytime I see it, yet they can't fix this?

Steam works with both AVG free and full for me.
