Valve releases Steam Mobile for iOS and Android

Download the app and sign in to request getting into the beta.

You can access and talk to people on your friend list (!!!), browse the store so you can waste your money while travelling, check Steam news, videos, screenshots, etc.

I've installed it on both my iPod Touch and ZTE Blade, it's very fast and responsive (ON THE LOGIN SCREEN AT LEAST). Automagic SteamGuard is a rather cool touch.

That's mentioned in the OP, a tad annoying but it's probably better than nothing. Now if only they would release a few mobile games (they have a few 'HD' versions of some iPhone/Android apps).

I know what the fix is, but it's a temporary fix. 2 months later, the same thing happens. And I (not them) have to go through the hassle of fixing the problem again, downloading all kinds of updates (several GB usually....) and installing Steam again.
I've had this problem for the past 3 years, and loads of other people too, but the problem is still there. Their 'solution' is to just uninstall some software which are causing these problems, but their softwarelist is just enormous and I refuse to throw all that software away just to keep Steam running.

I don't have Steam anymore but I think it was this error:

Steam.exe (main exception): ERROR: delete of Steam.exe failed

I did the fix they posted there a few times:

Here's what I did:

ran the installer, waited for it to terminate with that error.

rebooted into safe mode (using msconfig)

ran steam.exe from the the installation directory

the update still terminated at 27%, but a second update screen immediately ran

successful reinstall!

Usually a few months after this 'fix' it again hangs at 27% while booting/updating and then it's just fucked up again, won't boot, same error.
Also took a look at the their list of programs that may interfere with Steam. But removing all those programs just for this one program to work is too much effort.

Looks like the real issue there is having UAC turned on in the first place. Useless protection IMO.

And the programs that 'may interfere' just about never do, from what I've seen. Even with them installed they're very rarely a part of the problem.

they aren't telling you to remove every single one of those applications, hell they give you reasons why it interferes with Steam. They can't do anything about it.

Actually it's nothing like that Firefox thingy (seeing the add-ons run ON Firefox, while AVG doesn't run ON Steam), but I know where you're going. Steam works with both AVG free and full for me.
