I'm not sure if this is even related to ustealth, but who knows...

My USB HDD isn't detected by anything on vWii unless I unplug it on the vWii menu and then reconnect it. Once reconnected, my loaders detect it as normal. This is the same whether it's ustealthed or not.

Long story short, I have to disconnect and reconnect the drive each time I start vWii. If I don't, vWii won't detect it at all. Is this a known problem with certain drives, and are there any workarounds?

EDIT: I've confirmed that this has nothing to do with ustealth. My USB HDD just has the drive initialization issue (apparently this is common with newer drive controllers) and only initializes properly with IOS58. So for anyone searching this thread for the same issue, what worked for me is using USB Loader GX, going into "Loader Settings" and setting "Loader's IOS" to "IOS 58". Also, it does NOT work from the forwarder channel, only when launched from the Homebrew Channel. And finally I had to disconnect my Wii U USB before powering on. This was the only way I could get it to detect the Wii drive without reconnecting it at the vWii menu.

Im having this exact same problem with a WD passport 4TB drive. MBR FAT32.

Before installing ustealth I never noticed as I was connecting the drive post vWii boot....Now I can leave it connected but doing so renders it useless.

Really hope theres a workaround for this.

I never found a workaround for it other than using a different drive with an older enclosure. Either that or just leaving it unplugged until vWii is loaded, which is what I had to settle for. I still keep it ustealthed for the times I forget to unplug it before powering on the system.

I did get it working once without the needed reconnect, but it wasn't very consistent and didn't work every time even though I hadn't changed any settings between boots. Pretty much if it doesn't work straight away then you're probably better off getting a different drive enclosure.

Is there an updated list of known working drives? Just ordered a segate to see if its any different.

Ok, more troubleshooting.

Replaced wiiu drive and vwii drive with different brands, same behavior.

I tried moving the vwii drive USB from the top port on the wiiu to the bottom and oddly now the drive is always readable, all games display in usb loader and wiiflow even with the wiiu drive connected at boot.

But now trying to load any wii games off the drive in both usb loader and wiiflow result in a black screen/reboot back into vwii.

If i swap the USB port back, they work again.

I feel like I'm missing something here, theres no complete set up where everything works as expected.

never had any luck with seagate drives.
i’ve got an old wd 2Tb elements bottom back port for the wiiu stuff
and a 8 tb wd my book ustealth’d top back port
for gc and wii and both have worked fine connected
at the same rime for years so maybe it does depend on
the manufacturer

Each drive is self powered and i use wiiflow

Thanks, I got it sorted out. I had to switch the vWii drive to MBR from GPT. I assumed WiiBackupManager took care of that when I formatted the drive but no. WiiU, Wii and GC all working fine now!

I realize this was like 6 months ago. but I am having the same problem, except my vWIi USB is already MBR and not GPT.... Is it still working for you.. Right now I have to unplug wiiU HDD when in vWII System menu prior to launching usbloadergx, then all is well...

Hello Is this still the only solution to the format your USB message?
Was there ever any plug in that made a USB be readable by both PC and WIIU with both systems not nagging you?

just tried this. its hidden for my pc.. and for the wiiu. and also for CFG usb loader :'V
im booting the dol from this thread from the SD.
my 1tb drive has 2 partitions. one fat (for gc) and one NTFS (with wii isos)
i booted nintendont, he cant find fat devices either :(
so GG i guess (For me)
used ustealth r8 btw.

does this work with flash drives? I'm using SanDisk Cruzer 32gb for my vWii and a 2tb WD Passport for Wii U games.
The usb orientation i've got has the vWii drive in port 0 on the back, rockband adapters in port 1, and the Wii U hdd with a Y cable plugged into the front two ports.

Using ustealth I can hide the vWii drive from my computer, but when its plugged into the Wii U the format for multiple HDDs message still pops up on the system menu.

Ok got it to work.

Turns out revision 7 worked but revision 8 didn't.

(although bizarrely it moved all of my wii u games out of their system menu folders on the first boot)

common problem for some people. I think the op even mentions using version 7 if version 8 doesn't work.

Does having two HDDs connected using Ustealth affect GC Nintendont injects? I've injected most of my library of gamecube games as tiles on the Wii U menu using my Wii U HDD, and ever since I started using Ustealth to run additional Wii ISOs in the vWii, my injected Gamecube games on the Wii U menu stopped working.

Is this a Ustealth thing? Maybe its a nintendont problem?
