Sweet!
Now give it a white BG, make it scroll horizontally, and make the images 3D and rotate at 30-degree angles back and forth as you scroll.
Then we'll have Starlight =)

Step by step guys^^

@cdreams: i understand u about the skills on programming. that's why i'll try to have a look on the source of "USBL_AppleBelly_r3" and also "usbl_G6-try2_maddoc" so that when we can run the loader for a first shot. I think codes of nIxx and AppleBelly are useful...

Is it possible to make a loader using the covers at cdcovers.cc (they have front, back and side in one image). It would be nice to see both the front and back on one page in the loader and be able to read the back cover. Resolutions images are around 3244 x 2148.

i like to add my own boxart for games which are not it the standard 400 images pack.

I see the filename needs to .png...

The game codes I am getting when installing a game are 4 charaters long... but all the images from the internet have 6 charaters.....

HOW to I get the correct names for the images?

I hook my HDD up to my PC and use one of the wbfs utilities to get the code if I need it. They should also be on the net somewhere.

I've hit a bit of a brick wall with the internet side of it. The code i have wrote will bomb out if there is no internet connection set up. going to mess around with the freeimage, then upload the source to see if any other clever people can work it out.

Applebelly, do you have the old dol working and it loads the resized smaller images to the left and right of the main larger image?

If so could you send me the exact files I need to have and where they should go for my image to work. Like I said I don't know if you guys are using other additional files and just don't realise that we don't know that we need them, as far as I'm led to believe all I need is the boot.dol and the images larger and smaller versions and then it's just a case of the correct locations on the sd card.

If there is something else that should be included can you include it with the proper working dol you have. I'm personally not that bothered about getting images automatically downloaded, I would rather edit them myself or create my own.

Cheers.

@mainnine

Can you send me the files your using, minus the game images? If it can include the folders too, so if you have an images folder with a small folder inside that for your resized images then include that too. Also include any other files you have in the folders like noimage.png and stuff please.

Greatly appreciated if you can, cheers.

Question for AppleBelly and Mainnine.

Are you guys loading the channel through a forwarder? Also would it make a difference what system menu I am on?

I'm on 3.2, with Rev9 installed and stuff. I can use the USB loaders fine so just totally clueless why I can't get it to work properly. What's annoying me is that it's probably something simple and once it's fixed I will be totally content with the loader, all I want is those blooming side images to load properly.

AppleBelly I am getting the impression your busy with other stuff which is why you havn't managed to work out where I might be going wrong, or to send me your files you use minus the game box images.

Also forgot to ask, can someone update the USB Loader wiki page with this loader too, it's not there currently and I don't know why not. It seems quite a few people want it.

Yeah cdreams, I think AppleBelly should be busy in coding^^

BTW, would be nice to add a minimal stable version in wiki USBL-list. We're working on it!

cdreams: Could you please get some infos on how to play animation with images in order to have our itunes scrolling effect...I mean integrating some special librarys's code (other than libpng!) in our USBL ones.

thks.

I edited roku93's background with a little idea I had.

I'm not sure I've got the placement right, though, but I do like the idea of it being as simple as possible.

Progress so far.

Feature to connect to the internet and download box arts is done. Except there is a bug that if you have no internet connections the loader crashes. Been trying to fix this for most of the day, but can't seem to be able to.

People suggested using freeimage for the smaller box art, freeimage is a lib that will allow you to modify images and save them again. Now this isn't that useful to people who didn't want even more images on there sd card, but it is the only way i can go about doing it really.

To make things as efficient as possible, when it finds a box art you don't have, it connects to the internet and downloads this, it will then convert that boxart into a smaller version as well. My advice to people will be to clear you sd card of images and start fresh, using your wireless connection to download the files. The first time you use it without boxart wil be slow (its downloading files!!!) but then after the initial time its downloaded them, it will be just as quick as it is now, maybe even quicker.

There is one more issue i need to solve before i release the next version. The boxart images you guys currently have are 32bit, when you modify the image using Freeimage it changes it to 24bit, libpng (which i used to display the png files) doesn't like 24bit files. This could be the reason so many of you guys have had issues with smaller box art, depending how you may had saved it.

Excellent news AppleBelly. I'm going to have a shot at changing the images to be the preferred settings then and hopefully it will work.

Out of curiosity, do you have msn. There are some ideas I wouldn't mind adding but I don't have any coding knowledge to implement or even know if they would work. If your interested I could discuss some with you and maybe get a completed loader together for the scene. Let me know what you think.

I'm trying to download rev3 of this loader. Would anybody mind uploading it? The rapidshare link is dead. Thanks.
