I have a LaCie 1tb harddrive that I have tried connecting to both usb ports via a cable. I have IOS 249 installed and so far every other homebrew app I have tried has worked flawlessly. I am starting to think that I am either doing something wrong or I have a harddrive that is not supported. Il see if I can get the exact model # name in a sec il put that in my next post.
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php?tit...patibility_List

my experiences with lacie's have been hit and miss...both inside the world of wii and out.

my hard drive is not on that list at all....but any hoozle Il try updating my cIOS later today and tell you if it works,also do I have to format it in wbfs or will the loader offer to do it for me?

The loader will format it for you
your cIOS is probably below rev9 (below rev9 = no USB2.0)

a little question off-topic, sorry about this...but this is surelly the most active thread arround here.

Currently my wii's on Bootmii as boot2, should i install as IOS too? anyone?

Sorry again...
You may do so if you want
although I don't think you will get much advantage of it

no need to feel sorry for going off-topic for such questions

The loader will offer if you don't have a WBFS partition present. I prefer to use WBFS Manager for the initial format though.

I hope I can help as well. I used WBFS Manager to format all 3 of the hard drives I use for the wii. You can download it from here http://wbfsmanager.blogspot.com/ You may need to setup your partition all over again using windows manger which you can use by right click on the computer icon in the start menu and going to manage. Next go down to storage and I would remove all partitions and creat a fat partition for 10gb to put homebrew stuff on. Next make a ntfs partition for 400 to 500 giga bites for WBFS partition later, you don't need the hole 1tb hard drive for wii games as I have a 320gb hard drive and like 140 games on it. So use your own judgement on how big you want it to be. Next open the WBFS manager and select the NTFS partition and format it to WBFS. Hook it up to the wii to the usb port closes to the side on the wii and start usb loader gx. If for some reason usb loader gx dose not work try using usb loader 1.5 to put the first game on the hard drive, It can be found here http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php?tit...Loader_Releases Sorry if you already fixed the problem by the time I posted this as I had to get the kids form school and did not post this tell I got back home.

Moolama, are you on a mac? Cause if you are, I already know your problem. If you aren't ignore this. In disk utility, you go to the drive, go into the partition tab, choose a partition scheme (like, one partition or 2, etc.) from the drop-down menu.
Then, click the options button, which was greyed out a second ago. Make sure the drives a Master Boot Record, not GUID or Apple Partition Map. and hit format/erase/partition/go.

USBLoaders cant recognize APM or GUID

2 Questions:

1.
Does anyone know how well Hermes 222/223 rev 4 is in comparison to the previous revisions and what is the best setup so far (i.e: 36 merged 60, 38 merged 60, etc...)?

2.
It seems that after a stupid move on my part I am now unable to play Guitar Hero 5 via USB Loader GX (haven't tried the other USB Loaders yet). I had it working previously using firmware 4.0, cios38 ver 13, and 223 36+37, then for some reason I decided to install Hermes 222/223 rev 4 when it came out and the dreaded black screen of death was back. I used the following settings:
222->38
223->38+37
202->38+60
After reinstalling Hermes rev 3 223 36+37 I still get the black screen. I decided to upgrade to cios249 ver 14 and once I did, I was able to get Guitar Hero 5 to play; however, after choosing to go back to the Wii Menu from the game it went black screen. I then rebooted the Wii and tried to start the game up again and it went straight black screen again. I went back to cios ver 13 and reinstalled 222/223 using almost every option available and atleast 1 or 2 times I was able to get it to play but then had the black screen when selecting the Wii Menu and black screen when trying to play it again (just like after I upgraded to cios38 ver 14).

I'm at a loss. While reinstalling Hermes cios 222/223 and cios249, I've tried various things:
-Deleting the 1000000 folder on the SD card.
-Deleting the cios files via AnyTitleDeleter before reinstalling the cios files.
-Leaving the USB unplugged while installing the cios 222/223.

If anybody has had this problem and has found a resolution I would be much appreciative. Thanks in advance.

If there is a better place for a bug report, please let me know, this is my first one.

Got reproducible code dumps anytime trying to access the network (box covers update, or dol update) when in the following condition: Wii set to use hardwired network connection, but the connection is not physically plugged in to the back of the console.

Tested both with cIOS 249 and 222 as the global setting. Not sure if the problem is with cIOS or with USB GX, but wanted to report it.

Obviously it's silly to try to use an unplugged network connection, but it still shouldn't code dump, right?

This is probably a really n00bish question, and been asked to death about a 1000 times, but is there a copy of USB loader GX as a self-reliant WAD (i.e. Not a forwarder)? This would be really useful to me

I updated to 4.1 with Waninkoko's Updater 4.0 and then Waninkoko's Updater 4.1, but now whenever I click on a disc to load the game it just goes to a black screen. Anybody know why. I am using rev 719 with Cios rev14.

Thanks,
Kizer

I was looking at the program WBFSSync and was wondering if this could be done natively
in the Loader GX itself. I know Rockband has a USB hub for its intruments so...
could two drive be hooked up on a hub? Not necessarily for larger storage but one for
the main game storage and the other for backups. That way you wouldn't have to remove
your drive or mess with a PC. Just periodically copy new games to the backup drive.
Don't know if there are limits to the number of drives that can be attached or not.
