That's one of the games that uses MetaFortress, so most of them can't be patched.

You can make Kirby's Return to Dreamland work by placing the attached file on the root of your SD card.
Thanks, I wasn't sure deflicker got off with this one (picture is already a lot better than games like Twilight Princess, so it's harder to tell), and apparently it didn't.

I'll make sure to try your patch!

I believe the patch was created by someone called crediar. I just had the multi-region version saved to my SD card already.

Some games might not use a filter, so you won't always notice a difference with either the safe or extended settings. I haven't checked if Kirby is one of them.

Thanks for the update, great things added, thank you for work on this project.
And about Kirby Wii (or Return to DreamLand), it doesn't use deflicker on progressive, so you won't see a difference.
So crediar's patch file is not necessary? What does the patch file do then exactly? Apologies, I'm a bit confused

Crediar patch is necessary because Metafortress is basically an antipiracy/anticheat protection, and many people can't run this game normally without the gameconfig.txt file. If it detects an attempt to run any sort of code or any forced setting the game will lock up at certain points. With Crediar's file you'll be able to bypass it and run the game.

You could run the game with everything turned off, but even then some people could have issues with it.

Thanks for revealing the reason why my game would freeze on "Scope Shot" minigame whenever I left the 480p fix code activated. :)

I just tried using Crediar's code, and it worked indeed : as for the deinterlacing "OFF" setting, I tried it for the sake of science and it still gave me a black screen : but considering there isn't any deinterlacing filter to begin with, I guess it's normal.

@MaeseJesus , regarding what you wrote about interlaced modes better be left with the deinterlacer filter set to "ON", I just wanted to inform you (since I know we both own an OSSC) that putting 480i/576i output to "passthrough" (instead of "BOB") produces far less flickering, especially if the image is static.

Not saying it's better, but it certainly is less tiring to the eyes, in case you wanted to try.

Exactly. For years the loaders been trying to patch WiiWare and VC games incorrectly, so everything from forced video modes to Wiimmfi didn't work.

Just out of curiosity, @blackb0x , does that mean that we will be able to apply the "640 to 512 4:3 ratio" ocarina code @SuperrSonic and @MaeseJesus created for Megaman 9 and 10, even if these games are on a virtual nand?

Real nand is so short, and I have all my "Samba de Amigo" downloaded songs on it already...

Thanks for this. So are you saying that with crediar's patch you can apply cheats as well? I'm able to get this running without the patch as long as I use vanilla game settings, so now I'm wondering if, armed with crediar's patch, we can apply cheats and other tweaks and still have the game load properly

Yes, sadly my TV doesn't accept interlaced 480i/576i on HDMI for some reason, it stays black with "Mode Not Supported". Not a problem at all on Wii, because pretty much 100% can be played on Progressive, but it is annoying for PS2 though. Passthrough would also help with that system's weird resolutions too.

I see that file you're talking about applies to the NTSC version of the game and I wonder if it would also work for the PAL version?

Is it possible to edit play count, when I look at the sd card files, I don’t see a text document for it. It might be one of those.cfg I think it’s called but I’m not to sure. Just want to edit because I was currently trying to go online with smash and barely played or didn’t at all.

You can manually edit GXGameStatistics.cfg or you can select a game, go to uninstall and then reset the counter from there.

Could I please get assistance with an issue I'm having when booting USB Loader GX? The app hangs when Reinitializing devices, when I have my HDD plugged in, but when it's unplugged it boots fine, and then I am able to plug my HDD in and launch games. The HDD is in an externally powered reader and is plugged into the top USB slot on the back of my Wii U. I have the necessary cIOSes installed, as well.

Have you tried setting Loader to 249?

@blackb0x and @leseratte, that's a really nice update you released !
You fixed all the biggest issues there were for few years, like boot sequence, VC/WW patching!! (I didn't find the fix on github), or homebrew/wigsc launching.

Thanks for your work on that loader and keeping it great and alive :)
I didn't test it yet (still didn't fix my console, but I guess I could try on vWii)

Edit:
I see you worked on wifi_gecko, I had the idea to store the log in memory until you can send it to wifi once the network is enabled, so you get logs of pre-network events (boot sequence, unfortunately not post events like game launching). I see you named a variable "gecko buffer", is that what's it doing now ?

Edit:
I edited the first post to reflect the fact your version is the latest/best version to get, and marked it as "latest official".
