The problem lies in deleting games and adding news ones. Something with defragmentation. Just tested it myself and this is my conclusion at the moment. Deleted a game and added one, the game was placed between other games and BAM! the game under it was corrupted. Hard to explain for a guy with english problems :S sorry.

When deleting a game the space gets empty lets say 2 gb (cluster) adding a game of 2.1 gb wil write the 2gb cluster and overwrite the next game in line. I tested it and its true. When not deleting games but just adding them there will be no problem I think.

Maybe something for Waninkoko to look at. Dunno if the Wii will do this while dumping games not tested that yet.

That may be the problem. Because before I had deleted certain games off drive and added new ones. I then got corruptions. This time I didn't do that, and my iso's are fine so far.

Sounds like a problem with WBFS. WBFS is probably a link list. When you delete a game, the link is broken and then relinked without the blocks that were used for the deleted game. There must be a bug in that process.

I have a 160GB hd that currently holds 43 games, and they all work fine. I've yet to delete a game. I'll have to try that tonight and see.

For those who have problems, what GUI (if any) are you using? I've been using command line tool only. I wonder if one or more of the GUI may contain bugs.

I'd like to add this seems to have happened to me as well. Everything was fine last time I tried it, but apparently when I installed WiiFit to the drive last night it messed something up. Previoiusly I'd deleted Smash Brothers after installing something else, then reinstalled it. Must have screwed it up somehow. (was using the Wii, btw)

Using a WD 250Gb passport drive
All my 21 games work, just tried them all.
I installed all of them through the Wii

Only deleted 1 game & that was the 1st one before installing any others so it would seem you might be onto something

i have removed plenty of games. such as ssbb and super mario galaxy japanese version were the first games that i added. i then went on to add 20 games after them and so far fine, this also included sonic and the secret rings japanese version. but i ahve since deleted those games and have installed the english version of those games whilst adding in some extra games, and i have yet to have a broken game.

but i remember the acekard having its own file system, and it had the problem of only writing into spaces that the game can fit.

If I try to add 2 games at the same time, they both go through the motion of adding but the 2nd image never shows up... what's the deal... anyone else have the same issue?

Yeah, I thought about a possbile fragmentation problem too. re-formated my HDD today and copied over all ISOs I have - no problem at all, all games are starting up just fine. Maybe if you delete a game and copy over a new one, some parts of other games are accidently overwritten. Or something like that.

I want to try out some different dumps/releases of games, that make problems when playing them with USB Launcher, but that is hard to do without deleting files (and though risk corruptions). Maybe it would be easier to change Game-IDs for installing the same game more than once? Does anyone know if that is easily possible (and how to do it)?

I will do some test this evening when I'm back from work. I just formatted the whole harddisk and put on 44 games at once through WBFS Manager. They all work now, but what it does when I delete a game and add another one I will see tonight. The previous attemp gave me corruption on some games.

I hope we are on to something with this, lets pray

So I formated my disc and installed all the games again (this time without deleting any) and for now everything works fine.
I guess the delete function causes the problems, so I recommend not to use it until a fix is out.

i guess that too..
i deletet many games coz i renamed them, and after that all that code dump and ret=0 comes up.
but well to format and delete all games is ok, but to install all again cost so much time that ill wait for a fix before i do that...

I have only deleted games from the HDD through the Wii. I loaded all of my disc games first. Then went through and checked them. Two of them froze after the first load up screen so I deleted them and then loaded using the ISO on my PC. They then worked fine and dandy.

Later I realized my HOTD: Overkill stopped working and I was getting the same stack dump that you guys are describing. So I would say it is not limited to deleting from the PC.

I have added games and deleted games with the PC (using a Kingston 8GB thumb drive) with out any problems. I have not tried deleting games with the Wii yet how ever I have added games. Could it be a problem associated with drive brand / type? (chip set and what not)

damn, i hoped for this ^^

well so we need a defrag-tool for wbfs...

could it be a prob that only happens to windows-users?
whenever i plug my HDD to my laptop, windows want me to format my wbfs partition.
happens that code-dump-crap to linux users too?

I can confirm that this problem started occuring after deleting games and adding more. Now on take two, I've added games from both my pc and the wii, but so far not removed even one, and it works properly; all 30 of them.
