Hacking upgrades on discs

hello, what if I run the upgrades that come with the discs ?
I have a Pal wii with 3.3E and D2pro if is it dangerous if I run the upgrade that comes with PAL games, will I lose homebrew etc ? does it change the 3.3 into 4.x or just install the IOSes ?

bad idea.

Can not only brick your wii, but can make you lose homebrew functionality as well.


Besides, all you need is the specific IOS files a game needs, which can easily be removed via wiiscrubber and installed using wad manager, or installed via gecko OS.

Wrong, no update will brick you, unless you lose power during important parts of update, which is VERY unlikely, unless you update during a thunderstorm or something equally stupid. And the all disc based updates are totally safe homebrew wise. In fact, all updates are safe homebrew wise, including 4.2.

It can semi-brick if you do an out of region update.

OP said PAL games and he also said he had a PAL console. Therefore not out of region update.

Most of them were too stupid to softmod their Wii, and now they are trying to get a new one for free.

Updates from Disc can possibly brick if you have ever downgraded your Wii before and didn't remove the stubs

Edit: Dont let this scare you normally updating from disc is safer than most methods, but sense most people on here softmod there wii with god knows what i figured i post this

Yeah, but downgrade is fail. If you're not an idiot, updates are harmless. About the boot2 update 1: Its not on any discs yet 2: Its very unikely to brick (read the latest article on HackMii)
