What really annoyed me was you saying you "got your money's worth" out of it. Just a dick thing to do.

One can talk about the getting one's money's worth with regard to whether or not one should block use of the Gateway on his/her 3DS for the indefinite future without the topic of piracy.

If you can't afford another 3DS, you could always back up the 4.5 firmware before upgrading. Then you don't have to worry about regretting it, you can go back to 4.5 whenever you want to.

You see, it was originally the 23DS, aka the second 3DS, but test groups found it confusing, so it was shortened to the 2DS.

Nonono you see, after it was changed to 2DS, Nintendo thought "well if it's the 2DS, we can take the 3D screen out and save money!"
The screen was never planned to be 2D in the first place, it was a convenient coincidence, so marketing just kind of rolled with it.

Really though, the 2DS+Pokémon costs as much as the 3DS, and Pokémon is 90% 2D anyways... so yeah. Just get a 2DS. It will just be there for playing retail games, so why not? If you can afford a Gateway+3DS(XL), you can most certainly afford Pokémon+2DS
