Hi so I have a Nintendo Switch model XAW10050353575 which I got hacked by someone else. So for a while worked in relatively new games (The newest one being Fire Emblem Engage) but recently I tried to get SMT VV to install but didn't work. So it finally the time came to update but since I didnt do it myself I am unsure how to proceed and I am worried I could brick my console.
So I have a current system version 16.0.3 and AMS 1.5.3.
Also have 2 programs related to it: TegraRcmGUI (Used a few times when my Switch ran out of power and doesn't turn on) and ns usbloader 6.0 legacy.
I am basically new to this so please help me. Thank you in advance.
PS: would like first to know how to backup in case I brick my console.

Will give it a read but as I mentioned I didn't do it myself so not sure if the person who did followed those steps. Would that matter or there is only a single way to get it done?
Actually, there is a variety of ways to get it done. But this guide provides a good example of how to do it. Just backup your NAND as described in the guide and then have fun updating. You can also ask for advice in the noobs thread if you're not sure about certain details.

Additionally, I've made a "short" post here about updating your Switch to the latest version with a few things that you should be aware of if updating to the latest version. That should be a bit easier? I really recommend that you get familiar with guides I've mentioned in the post (@Dust2dust already mentioned one of them) as it'll make updating your Switch much, much easier. I personally stay away from AIO installers as they may cause more problems down the road.

and ns usbloader 6.0 legacy.
I see that it's related to the Awoo Installer. I'm not sure if that one's up-to-date these days, but I definitely recommend switching to DBI for installing your games from the PC (where you have downloaded your games) to your Switch via USB cable. Latest English version is 658 (which should work fine at least for installing the games), while latest Russian-only version is 695 (I suggest getting familiar with the English version first and then using the Russian-only version afterwards). Here's a good video about using DBI for installing games.

Good luck!

And I might add that @Blythe93 's guide for updating is very thorough and noob friendly. I actually think it's better than the rentry one. It's normal to be intimidated the first time you do it, but just take your time and try to get a grasp of what each steps do to your Switch. It's really not that complicated.

Thanks. Sorry for the late reply! I actually dont use Awoo since for some reason it cant detect my switch usb. Luckily DBI is actually in and thats the one I use to install games. Will give these a read. Thanks!

Thanks. Once I have a backup I hopefully wont be as worried. Thanks!
