So I’ve got my cfw switch currently set up as emunad on fw 16.0.3.

I’ve just got everything back up and running as far as data and things moved over from a failing sd card all I need to do now is install the sig and/or sys-patches.

The question is do I have to update my emunad firmware in order to run the latest atmosphere and hekate as it seems (at least that I’ve found) there aren’t any sys-patches that support my currently installed atmosphere 1.5.3

If I have to update my emunad do I also have to update my ofw as well?

What is a good fw for my emunand if I need to update?

I seem to recall reading (not sure if they are resolved or not) there are issues with fw 20 and up if I recall correctly.

Thanks in advance for any help regarding these questions and issues.

If everything works, then don't bother updating.
Nothing significant has been added anyway and most games will run on an older version.
Most updates were minor fixes and a lot of stuff for Swith2 migration.

You can update your CFW independently from your OFW.
With the default settings the CFW does not update the fuses, nor does it care about them afaik.

If you want to update, check out the Hekate and Atmosphere pages to see what versions they support.
Usually most issues have been resolved for the versions they officially support.

Sys-patch 1.5.6 support older firmware like the one you use. Don't use newer versions though. Also the sigpatches on gbatemp includes patches for all versions of HOS and Atmosphere. So you don't need to upgrade to make the patches work

Not really no.
Awesome guess I’ll figure out what all I need when I get there then 🤣🤣

I keep reading about sys-patches and I’m wanting to use them but it also talks about overlays. I don’t think I’m familiar with these or how to use them. A google revealed the Tesla overlay but what I’m curious about is which overlay would be best, current, and well maintained as well as compatible with 20.5.0 which is the firmware I’m going to install for cfw?

My recommendation is ultrahand overlay. It's a fork of tesla that can do so much more than regular tesla. These sys modules act like the menu that pops up when you hold the home button

As for the overlay for sys patch, its more of a way to check and make sure stuff is patched. So its not necessary to use sys patch. But it does help for troubleshooting.

As for minimum fw requirements, you can check your games with nx fileviewer. Also depending on where you source your games from, they'll tell ya what's the minimum fw. At least the sources I use do

So I pulled the trigger and tried to update tonight. Installed atmosphere 1.10.2 and hekate 6.5.1 and used AIO updater to get the 20.5.0 update and daybreak to install.

Upon reboot I got the error in the photo. What did I do wrong and how do I correct it?

Well I figured out the error I think.

I’m pretty sure it’s because my prodinfo is blanked due to me using incognito on nx nandmanager when I made the original emuMMC to begin with.

I found a couple workarounds for this one requires copying my sysnand prodinfo over to my emuMMC which is fine it allowed me to after flashing back to fw 16.0.3.

The other way (the way I think I’m going to do it) requires editing a .txt file. I much prefer my emuMMC prodinfo be blanked, at least I know if something isn’t configured or not configured correctly the they can’t ban my console.

If I don’t need an overlay (I’m not certain I see any benefits for myself person in one, I seen Tesla had an in game cheat enabler that would be nice) then I’m curious where I drag and drop what suspatch files to from the GitHub.

If I’m going to use syspatchbwithout an overlay what files from GitHub do I want?

All you need is the sys-module. As for the overlays the .ovl files go in sd/switch/.overlays/
You might have to turn on hidden files on whatever file explorer you use.

As for what files. Just grab the zip from that github. Then drag and drop the contents to your sd
