Hacking Updating already modified wii

So, my wii was modified way back - like when the twilight hack first came round, and then I gave up on the wii for awhile. Now I want to get back into it, but wondering if it's worth updating all the files - and where would I start to figure out what I have already?
Does that even matter?
Can I just get the latest of "everything" and it'll go overtop no problem?
And what's the best Loader out there right now?

you will probly want to get waninkos lates rev i think its rev 17 or 18 (i aint been on here for a while too)
and dop-mii seem to be a very handy tool for updating everything
