An 90% completed version of Resident Evil for the GBC has finally made its way out, the game cannot be completed unless some cheat codes are used but shows an interesting effort to transfer a playstation game to a GBC

I'm very happy this was finally released. These unseen treasures are always so cool to finally see available to everyone, where previously they were thought gone forever, like California Raisins, and that Bionic game on the NES. Now we need RE 1.5 and the original Famicom version of Monster Party :P

Was the $2000 needed for him to release the game or was he just greedy?

Unfortunately the ROM is considered warez so no links leading to it can be posted. However, the news is absolutely true, I had a write-up sitting around since this morning, I was just waiting to see if it was considered warez or not (and it is).

Remember that linking to warez or uploading warez is punishable by death punishment so don't post it. It's probably incredibly easy to find with a quick Google search honestly, the news is up on a few sites.

I'll keep this thread open and make this the primary discussion on the matter.

I've just played it. I applaud the ambition but the game doesn't play too well.

While linking any warez site is a no-no, the most basic Google searching can find it easily enough.

BTW, RE's Game.com screenshots are somewhat better than this GBC version... I think.

Read the announcement on the front page, extract the salient information, google is your friend, it took me one quick three-word google search to find it. Now I just need to figure out how to get past the guardhouse door.

This is cool as a historical oddity, but of course a much better handheld version exists.

Can we still consider it an unreleased game if it has just been released?

Even if it doesn't hold up at all, it's nice that we have access to this... interesting attempt at a port. I'm not sure if it was doomed from the start or what; after all, Konami had success with their Gameboy version of Metal Gear Solid.

I've had a Tiger Game.com and RE2 on it and its one hell of a blurry mess with hardly like 2 frames of animation for each move! The sound effects is decent for what it was though.

From what I've played of the GBC version though its much more of a proper RE experience than the Game.com one though for me the sound is what lets it down massively.

Huh. I never knew they even attempted such a thing. Reminds me of the GBC version of Donkey Kong Country. I didn't like that one, incidentally.

If it should remind you of anything then I guess it'd be Alone in the Dark for the GBC.
