TX Releases SX OS v1.3

TX Releases Another Update To Their SX OS, with a big new feature: 'eShop NSP Support' :)
sxos13.jpg
TX does not seem to want to take a break, they have now pumped out yet another major update to their SX OS, check it out below:
We are back once again with an exciting update for SX OS. Let's skip the drama for now and jump straight to the list of new goodies:
  • Add LayeredFS support
Are you excited about any upcoming Game Mods for switch games? Well, we are! To accommodate this we have added what is commonly referred to as "LayeredFS" support. In short what this allows you to do is override specific files from a game with modified copies that are loaded from your microSD's (ex)FAT partition.
Place your custom game files under the following locations on the microSD root:
    - /sxos/titles/<titleid>/exefs/
    - /sxos/titles/<titleid>/romfs/
We can't wait to see what cool mods the community will come up with!
  • Add eShop NSP support
This adds support for installing and launching installed eShop NSP files. This is still rough around the edges and for advanced users only. To install NSP files you need a legitimate copy of the DevMenu, which can be launched currently via LayeredFS. We are still working on adding a custom and easy to use NSP installer to our own menu system. Stay tuned!
WARNING: We do not recommend playing online with installed eShop NSP games without a valid ticket, as this WILL lead to a console ban without a doubt.
  • Add low battery reconfiguration on bootup
Some users were having battery issues after playing around with Switch Linux custom payload. This fixes the "battery desync" issue every time you boot your switch. If you weren't use Switch Linux there's nothing to worry, otherwise; enjoy your penguins AND enjoy your horizon OS! :D
  • Hide OSX Temp files in game selection menu
If you were pestered by bogus entries in the game selection menu chances are high this is because you are using OSX (and Finder). We simply hide those files from the menu now. All cleaned up!
  • Removed eMMC password lock
It seems a perfectly safe and easily reversible hacker challenge we put in place for aspiring hackers has been blown out of proportion. We are sad to see so many false claims on the internet and to avoid any further false accusations and 'fake news' we decided to get rid of it. Namaste.
That's it for today! We'll be back soon. Team-Xecuter doesn't take a break. While others moan on social media we work day and night to bring you the best experience on Nintendo Switch.

Ok tried Devmenu (using pokemon quest as donor) and installed Yooka Laylee eshop game. Works perfectly.. Placed nsp file in root of sd and used the install from sd option.. (Then installed game to internal storage). I guess using other installation tools such as rei installer (where you can select a title to install) would also work now too.. So now Eshop games and XCI cart images running :-) - And yes, I don't care about any ban..

I want to personally thank you for testing this out and actually contributing something useful to this thread. Sorry you were completely ran over by people arguing about brick code and open source licenses.

This is huge, folks.

I know I'll probably get bitched at for asking this, but if SX OS is just stolen code, why does it have so many more features than Atmosphere already? If the ReSwitched guys cared about having the most popular/profitable CFW, they would've included a backup loader. Since they didn't, that feature request was inevitably added by someone else. End of story. There's no point in tribalism when both solutions have a reason to exist.

Because they've build their own stuff on top of it. The only thing they are selling is the ROM loader. Everything supposedly taken from atmosphere is available for free. If they were taken to court(they won't) this would be their legal defense.

So can we go back discussing the news instead of circlejerking around who stole from who? becuase I'm sure that no SX user cares. And others shouldn't even be in this thread.
Oh common, I derail this thread and you are trying to get back on topic... :P

Maybe the people upset at TX for stealing code should stop being angry for other people. I seriously think the only reason people are complaining about stolen code is just to get their post count up.
People that care about things like this couldn't care less about post counts. It's a social issue, its about damaging our community and the wider opensource software community.

I would like further elaboration on this, as well. They've got a niche for pointing out the rather small bit we know was taken and used at this point. Are the other features taken from other open sourced projects? We get the base code isn't original, but what now? The world may never know.

PS: Where's the damn write up? ugh

What does that have to do with anything here?
Perfectly valid question considering the news that popped about eshop title support.

All the people talking about TX stealing codes and should apologize to Atmosphere. TX responding and said: "Why don't you pirates call every gaming company that you ripped off in the past years and tell them your sorry for stealing their games" and we'll apologize !

What about 1%.. TRUTH hurts don't it?

OOOHHH I'm NOT a pirate blah blah blah!! Yea so why are you on this thread then??

Well I'm not the one stating the same thing multiple times over again and cussing. So I really do think it is the other way around...

You're not crazy. I stopped posting for the same reason I stopped lurking on GBATemp a few years back. This time, I hung around.
