TX Announces SX OS v2.2 BETA with Docked USB Drive Support

It's only been a week since Team-Xecuter made the big announcement of SX OS v2.1 with their 'cheat engine'

SXOS22.jpg

And now they are back and on a roll with them adding 'Docked USB Drive Support' and many other nice improvements to their 'cheat engine' and a few bug fixes! :)
How do you do, dear SX OS users?

Today we are back once again with a much anticipated new feature as well as various improvements to existing functionality for SX OS. While this is still labelled as BETA we've had some good success with it internally, we're looking forward to your feedback.

Lets jump into the list of changes!
  • Docked USB drive support!
Yes. You read it right. You can now plug a USB mass storage device into your switch' dock and load XCI or install NSP content from there directly. No longer are you limited by the size of your microSD card when playing the switch from the comfort of your couch, but you can now enjoy TERABYTES of content by using external harddisks and such! The filesystem on the drive needs to be either FAT32 or exFAT, and the directories that are being scanned for content are equal to the ones you'd use on the microSD card.
  • Updates to the cheat system
    • More accurate progress indication during cheat search
People were reporting "freezes" during cheat searches, often times these were just due to impatience and a suboptimal UI from our end. The progress bars are more honest and update more frequently now!
    • Cheat search for exact value requires no initial dump anymore
For 'exact value' searches a big initial dump file on your microSD is not needed, and since this is often the way people start a cheat search we decided to streamline the cheat finder process a bit. You are now prompted with a question whether you want to start an exact value search or arbitrary value search, in case of the former the process will be much faster.
    • Automatically apply/disable cheats upon toggle
The interface for "applying" the cheats was a bit counterintuitive, you now no longer have to press the plus (+) button in order to apply cheats. They are automatically applied/disabled once you toggle them. Disabling cheats now properly works as well, so there's no need for having a dummy cheat any more to work around that limitation.
    • Ability to add cheats using the UI
Identifying memory locations for cheats using just the console is nice, but previously there was no way of adding an actual cheat-code for a location you found to the cheat code library. This has been addressed, and there is now an interface for doing this directly from our menu.
  • Show homebrew NSP icons in TX menu
Some homebrew NSP titles were not displaying their icons properly. This has been investigated and fixed.
  • Fix error 2345-0021 when in docked mode opening TX menu
People who play/cheat in docked mode will like this fix. The frequent crashes that happened when opening the TX menu in docked mode are now a thing of the past!
That's it folks. Enjoy this BETA and let us know what you think. We have more tricks up our sleeves, more rabbits in our tophats. And we only have one gear: FORWARD.

Motherfucker. This is what I was expecting. Shit. At last I`m free from the hassle of micro SD cards. Gonna have my favorites on the go, and the big ones and indies on the USB. This is a colosal help. Hope in the future, the homebrews can be loaded from the USB too, like retroarch and such.

Not sure if it's happening to other users or not but one thing I've noticed is that when I disconnect and reconnect my usb hard drive the switch throws an error and needs to reboot. Doesn't seem to happen when using a usb pen drive though. My drive is a seagate 4tb and happens when the drive was also formatted as gpt and it wasn't picking up the games.

let me know if >4tb works

I could not get 4tb to work due to GPT partition type. Had to convert to MBR and that left it at 2tb max partition size. Possible that the switch doesn't support GPT type partitions and if so the mass storage driver would need to be rewritten to incorporate this.

Incorrect, I remove only the stolen code comments and flamebaits. As I stated, if someone wanna complain about the code etc. Do a new thread.
Why should complaints or otherwise comments against TX have to make a whole new thread? Way to go to hinder discussion for your little safespace.

Both buddy

That's very odd. Wonder if it's my drive as when formatted as 4tb which requires GPT disk type it will not see anything on the drive but as soon as I convert it to MBR everything works perfect but then stuck with only a 2tb partition and the rest of the space is unusable due to MBR limitations.

EDIT:
Ah ok. I presume you will run into the same issue I had with partitions larger than 2tb.

can someone please test NXShell and let us know if it allows you to copy or move files from USB storage to SD card or vice versa? thank you in advance.
read somewhere that the USB is mounted read-only, so even if NXShell does recognize the USB storage, you can only copy files from the USB to SD and not the other way around (move won't work as you can't delete anything from the USB storage)

here it is
so SX os mounts the external drive in read only mode

Not true as it SXOS can delete the nsp files after they are installed which would indicate some sort of write access.

But have you checked if deletion works from usb or are you just going by what works on sd card? I haven't checked yet.

from USB? because this post says otherwise

Well found my first bug. Even though NSP content installes without a hitch from USB after it's installed it doesn't delete when you choose to do so.

Apologies if I've missed anything here but my games are not showing up on sxos menu using my usb pen drive (to test). I have tried fat32 and exfat with an xci file in the root and also in sxos/xci. I do however still have all my backups on my sd card is this the reason why the usb xci files are not showing up?.

I really don't want to wipe the 200gb sd card only for it not to work and have to transfer all the backups back over.

cheers guys and gals

From USB. I have tested it with the update for 1 2 switch. Once the update was installed and the system asked if I wanted to delete it, it disappeared from the list of available nsp files.

I am currently installing a bunch of them so will update this post if I discover something different.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
