Weird issue here. Just got an ak2i literally a couple of days ago, and when I initially loaded my microSD card into the ak2i, it went in straight -- no indication of a spring. I've had no issues taking it in and out a few times over the last two days to put additional games and whatnot on the card, but just now the microSD (after throwing a few more ROMs on there) won't go all the way in and is giving resistance from what is obviously a spring. So, it appears the card is spring loaded after all. Any tips for getting the microSD in securely?

Is it reading it?
If it is, you don't have anything to worry about.

I think you've had your answer right here.

many of the new 2is are shipping with springs which were inserted crooked. you should open the acekard and try resetting the spring. you'll need a small jewelers screwdriver or something similar to move it around.

maybe this will help:

I don't think ak2i's are spring-loaded. (look at above post)

Opening up your cart and examining it will help you look at what's wrong. Maybe something is obstructing the slot.

Yeesh...not sure how comfortable I am melting glue to get the thing open.

In any event, after some persistence (and pushing as hard as I could), the thing finally clicked in. If it gives me any future problems, though, I think I might just contact the seller, Acekard, or both. Never been a big fan of spring-loaded slots. Actually had no idea this thing was even spring loaded until last night. Ah well. Thanks again, guys.

I also have an Acekard 2i and I've never used the spring loading mechanism. The first time I put in the microSD I pushed it till it clicked into place and from then onwards I just directly pull out the microSD and put it back in. I don't eject it by pushing on it. Works just fine like a non-spring loaded flashcart. I do this so I don't have to worry about the spring ever failing because it's not even being used :). Hope this helps.

Wait, are you saying there's an option to not use the spring? Like a small switch or something on the card?

no, he is saying that he forces the card in/out of the acekard and ignores that there is even a spring in there.

this will work but it can cause the contacts of the msd to ware faster because you are manually seating it in a slot not designed for this. it also could mean that your msd won't make correct and perfect contact each time.

by forcing i meant that you are doing something that it was not designed to do, not that you have to physically wrestle with the thing.

Do they not mean :
press card into ak2 seating spring into position.
pull out card leaving spring in position.
after that its just the same as putting the card into an adapter or even into the acekard but minus the stress on the microsd casing (nothing really) to push the spring into place.
think i may be worried the spring might slip off the catch though and propel my microsd across the room.

edit: its been so long since last post that someone has stolen my avatar!

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. I doubt the spring will slip since the microSD has to be pushed in to release it.
