Check his other thread please. He doesn't know what the file types really mean.
In that thread, he was trying to find the text files, so he probably got the file type wrong and thought it may be the text.
As a matter of fact, to your question on the last page he said, "No, I'm trying to translate the [enter game here] ".
To be fair, he said he wanted to edit the sdat, not translate it.
