If u havent heard my rantings and crys for help before lemme explain, ever since 4.0 was installed on my wii I've been ting to install WADs and everytime I do the Disc Channel, when opened gets the Black Screen. Its gotten me thinking, what if this is the work of Nintendo, what if theyve purposely set up 4.0s firmware to be that if you set up wads you cant run discs?

Either that or two other reasons

a) 4.0s firmware sucks
b) My wii is on thin ice

Comments?

Well then maybe someone can help me fix it

When I was on 3.4 i did this fix (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=112945)
and last week I did this (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=144349)

Could that be the problem?

this is the method i used

Skip waninkoko's loader. Install customIOS 36_R8 (very important you do this first) then update to 4.0 using the official nintendo method (far less likely to brick). Then install the patched ios60 and you can boot custom channels no prob.

Oh, of course make sure HBC is installed on your wii first

get all files and tutorial here http://wehackwii.pbwiki.com/News+-+System+Menu+v4 BUT skip steps 8-10!

i've done it and it works perfectly. but i dont use any loaders, softmii etc since i have a chip and dont need them. only loader i use us usb launcher

Yea its your fault why your wii is the way it is. Read around before updating:
Have CIOS rev 08 installed before updating
Have homebrew channel installed before updating
DO NOT update through nintendo, use wanins firmware upgrader.

So running the ISO60 patcher will fix me, right now my wii is operating fine. No black screen or anything

if you installed rev 9 and updated than you install ios60 patched. if you update afterward it will wipe it out and you'll be fucked. just updated using nintendo if you dont use loaders you'll be fine. usb launcher will work i'm in aus and i did all this and my wii still works.

Black screen is becoming more and more common with newer imported games. Use Gecko OS or softchip to boot your games. Or don't use out-of-region discs.
