I've been trying to make a theme with YATA but I can't get it to fit on the preview screen properly, it takes up the entire screen instead of leaving a black bar down the side, the image is the correct size pixel wise. However I have no idea how to edit the drawable area and I believe that is my issue, would someone please explain to me how to edit the drawable area? Using Gimp 2.8 if it helps.

Hmmm I'm not sure what you're talking about exactly, but the template image comes with this white/red/blue rectangle on the corner, and then the rest is black. You just have to ummm, "paint" the colored area. That's the section that appears on the 3DS. Remember that 6px at each side of the drawable area are used for 3D.

Apologies for sounding confusing, my images are larger then the template images despite being the right size

If they are larger how can they be the right size?
Good question, I read and made sure that my images were 512x256 pixels (think that's the correct size, trying to remember off the top of my head) so it does seem kinda weird that they don't fit the template.

You are confusing. Resize the image to only take up the 'drawable' area. You should have mostly blank space in the right and bottom sections of the final image.

Too big -> resize. What else is there?

What is the drawable area? I've never seen an option to edit the drawable area of an image, but if I scale the picture to the size of the drawable area the application tells me that the image isn't a power of 2.

Don't scale the image. Your editing program should have an option to 'resize the canvas'. Start with a canvas the size of the drawable image, then resize the canvas (but not the image) to the nearest powers of 2.

Basically, the images shown on the 3DS screens need to be 412x240 and 320x240 for the top and bottom, respectively. HOWEVER, the way themes are loaded, they require images whose resolutions are powers of 2. Namely, 512x256 for both screens. The area to the right and bottom of the drawable area won't show up on the actual 3DS, but it has to exist in the file to work.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
