Public libraries around me allow you to borrow switch games for free. If someone were to dump each one and post them online, that would screw over and ban the 100s of people who borrow these each month? I have a feeling there is no way they will be able to ban those will full complete games (including the valid certificates) because that would screw over 100s of innocent people. Now I'm scared to borrow games lol.

Maybe stupid question but do we anticpate there will be upgraded versions? I don't like the fact you have to cycle through games. Also I do these carts allow for other features like game modding, emulation, etc? And if not can we expect one that does in the future?

All it takes is 2 people playing the same copy online at the same time

Maybe there will be a better way to select the games instead of cycling through them all left and right, but only time will tell. Other than that, based on what I've seen so far, probably not.

Currently not, probably never will. They are pretty much emulating one or more official carts on one single cart and that's pretty much it.

And if not can we expect one that does in the future?
Probably not. Lotus3 is the a separate chip on the motherboard responsible for communicating with the gamecard. I'm not sure about the technical stuff behind it, but Nintendo made it isolated from SOC so, even if it does get compromised at some point, it shouldn't affect SOC. @impeeza can probably explain it better for you.

In any case, MIG Switch and alike are perfect for banned Switches, allowing you to play publicly available dumps as long as you have all the necessary files. At least, for now, unless Nintendo decides to do something about it and update Lotus3 firmware to reject MIG Switch, provided it's even possible to do so. Again, I'm not really sure about the technical stuff so I might be wrong.

However, if you want to play you own game backups (or shared backups from a small private group like @TheStonedModder mentioned sometime in the past), you have to be smart about it and use it the way it was intended to be used: full, valid, complete dumps, sorted in a way explained by the MIG Switch devs and that's it. No incomplete dumps, no mixing of the certificates (I thought it was possible to do so at first, but apparently not? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) since those things lead to ban.

I would consider the MIG abandonware tbh

I don’t think there has been any firmware updates in months and there still isn’t proper MacOS support even tho the MIG team reassured me the would fix the dumper

I have to either just use my modded switch to dump games or boot into a windows instance with VM or parallels to properly use the hardware dumper atm

I don't think will be update to the firmware, the MIG team is MIA so far.

Only if esp chip on it have the wifi enables colud somebody create a firmware which allows you to change the game with a remote button or even with a web page

The ninjas learned with the 3DS and Wii, now the cart reader is an independent device separated from the console, so if you manage to «hack» that device is nearly impossible to gain access on the console's SoC through that device. Not only the communication between both devices is encrypted but is highly verified using checksum and overflow avoid measures.
That's why you can't create a cartridge emulator like the several created for Wii, nor there is cartridges like the ones for 3DS allowing you to full run a game deceiving the system to think is another game and eve allowing to run unsigned software.

No it don’t
May be there is no yet bans for two people running the exact same Cartridge at the same time, but theoretically will be, each cartridge have a UNIQUE ID and a certificate associated to it. so the ninjas can determinate if a copy of the game is emulated on ta device, they can not tell which one is the real and which one is the MIG but to the ninjas do not matter.

Let's say you borrow a game from a friend. You dump it and return the original to your friend. You both go online with the exact same unique IDs at the same time. If this isn't a red flag i don't know what is. You can't be at 2 different locations (with 2 different IPs) at the same time with the same physical game. Whenever they ban for this i don't know. Someone will have to play guinea pig to test this exact scenario. Anyone who claims this is not detectable server side is clearly wrong because it is.

I still suspect they collect data from a Switch that share certs a lot of times and then pull the trigger on it.

When you give a screw dimensions you should give:

-The diameter of the shaft outside of the thread, if you put a m before you are indicating is a milimetric thread)
-Length of the full fastener.

By Example M3X6 is a screw diameter 3 millimeters and length (from the bottom of the head to the bottom of screw) of 6 mm

M3X3 is a screw of diameter 3 millimeters and 3 millimeters long. and yes, that screw do exists.

By example this two Screw brothers are M2X10 (top) and M2X8 (middle) and diameter is on the bottom image.

Well, good luck with that, considering you're ignoring pitch entirely

M3x0.5 for coarse thread and M3x0.3 for fine thread

Maybe people who have no idea how thread notation works will write down screw dimensions as (diameter)x(length), but standards exist for a reason. You'll have easier time finding what you need by actually using the correct notation, and don't have to worry about bad surprises mixing coarse and fine threads...

M3x0.5 will be a screw of 3 millimeters of diameter and 0.5 LONG I think you are talking about:

M3X3X0.5 or M3X3X0.2 and yes could be different pitch for different screws, on this case should be the standard one M3X3X0.5 because is a screw for plastic.

You're speaking to a career machinist here. Refer to ISO specification:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_metric_screw_thread#Designation

You are correct that the pitch can be ignored in certain cases, and then M3X3 would technically refer to a screw of 3mm diameter with 3mm length, but you are incorrect in saying that this is the objectively correct way to designate screw dimensions

Last half of your reply is simply nonsense

Again, pitch is very important... you'll fuck up the threading inside the case if you tried to force a fine thread screw inside a coarse thread hole, or vice versa

Don't say you weren't warned

ok, you are talking only about the thread not the screw size. I get it.

You likely won’t id just do a chargeback

Aliexpress still seems like the only trustworthy reseller

Crazy how I ordered directly from the migswitch site and alixpress is the only one actually sending them 😳

Did I get a dud, or an I just doing something wrong?

So I got my MiG cart after months of waiting, and I attempted to set it up following the instructions on the MiG site and no matter what I do, I just get a solid red light. I've tried multiple sd cards formatted to Exfat, multiple different firmware files, and even tried one of my own backups from the dumper to see if maybe it was already flashed with the most recent firmware from the factory. no matter what I do the light stays red and I keep getting the "cart cant be read error. Has anybody else had this issue and if so how did you fix it?

Share a photo of the files you put on your SD card

So i've tried both just having just the update file, and have also tried with game dumps from the dumper. Down below are pictures of the SD card during both scenarios along with a picture of the files inside the xci folders from the dumper. In both scenarios when inserted into the switch the led is red for 2 seconds then turns off and switch displays a cartridge can't be read error, and when I tried to update the firmware with the dumper the led stays red and doesn't seem to do anything.
