Found out about Exotica days ago. StarCraft 64 was already playable on Rice (last I tested was 1.2/1.3) with the ini settings I had since then. On glN64, BattleTanx is also playable, Fighting Force 64 (but it runs slow for now), and Taz-Express.

NBA Hangtime is another game that I would consider playable now, it did display correct graphics before but would slow to a crawl on gLN64 and would also slow down a lot on Rice, with the added speedboost it actually plays mostly at 60fps now on Wii64 Rice, with very negligible slowdown.

Does it run with a smooth framerate? Share the settings you use. I have a low framerate, on the Wii. Advice please.

Ran fan for me on default settings, use Wii64 Rice, make ricevideolinux.cfg a read only file in explorer before stattung it up

I knew about it since july. Good game.

I've been mostly waiting for more improvements on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magical Tetris Challenge and Killer Instinct Gold. Jet Force Gemini, Resident Evil 2 and Xeno Crisis would be a bonus.

On my end, if I try to quit the emulator it goes to a black screen. Using the rice version on Wii with sd card.

Thanks for duke nukem ;)
Yes, there was a change in WFL plugin arguments. @emu_kidid made these the arguments since 1.4.3 and they work without issue. :)
Hey there guys. I have just recently updated my versions of Wii64 on my Wii U, and I am finding the same black screen problems when I exit the emulator. I just made a post about it yesterday, thinking that I was having an issue with my Wii U. But are you guys seeing it on your Wii's as well? Again, just the Rice emulator, the other one works just fine. I might not be alone here?

On glN64, BattleTanx is also playable
Hey man, how do you happen to get BattleTanx to work? It didn't play for me when I updated to the latest version

Xeno Crisis is not likely to happen since that's libdragon.

Wii 64 Rice 1.4.6 seems to be a clear improvement. Here are some games I’ve tried:

- Jet Force Gemini now works fine. I’ve been playing it for a while and haven’t had any problems—I’ve been looking forward to this game. I hope it doesn’t cause any issues as I progress further.

- StarCraft 64: It’s been a while since I tried it, and it plays pretty well in this latest version.

- Bangai-O: I find it more playable and with fewer glitches than before. Edit: When you beat a level and start the next one, glitches always end up popping up that prevent you from playing it. It’s as if the memory gradually gets overloaded and can only handle one level per playthrough. But if you restart the game, you’ll be able to play the next level just fine. The game automatically saves the levels you’ve completed, so it’s not a major problem if you like the game.

- Kirby 64: The HUD is working properly now.

- Yoshi’s Story: It still has errors with certain sprites, but it’s clear it’s getting closer and closer to being playable without graphical glitches. Maybe someday.

- Goemon’s Great Adventure: It doesn’t work after selecting a character.

- Space Station Silicon Valley: It still has significant graphical glitches here and there.

- Star Wars Teikoku no Kage (Japanese version of *Shadows of the Empire* with English patch): It gets stuck during the opening sequences.

- Killer Instinct Gold (rev 2): Glitches during character selection, but better during fights; however, it gives me a code dump after losing or winning the first fight.

Beetle Adventure Racing has no graphical glitches in the sky or trees, and it’s not necessary to use the RiceVideoLinux.ini file from version 1.4.2.

The issue where the screen goes black when exiting the emulator and doesn’t return to the homebrew menu if a game hasn’t been loaded beforehand still persists (it’s not a big deal, since you always start the emulator specifically to play a game).

I tried Wetrix (European and US) with the new release, but still the stretched textures appears, with rice or gLN64, the same thing.

A new release, see the notes about stability (I'm bring back lots of changes from upstream so things might be better or worse for some games, please let me know!): https://github.com/emukidid/Wii64/releases/tag/1.4.6

Some games that improved:
  • John Romero's Daikatana = the display doesn't shrink anymore when using Video Type>High, but wall textures warp when you look around.
  • Kirby 64 = fully playable now, with small non-intrusive graphical glitches.
  • Paperboy 64 = fully playable now, with small non-intrusive graphical glitches.
glN64:
  • Dark Rift = fully playable now, with small sound glitches.
  • Mortal Kombat 4 = fully playable now, with small sound glitches.
  • Mortal Kombat Mythologies = fully playable now, with small sound glitches and randomly accelerated music.
  • Star Wars - Rogue Squadron = fully playable, with small sound glitches in some cutscenes.
  • WinBack - Covert Operations = main menu options are not invisible anymore, seems fully playable.
BattleTanx and BattleTanx - Global Assault are not booting anymore.

I'm very pleased to have updated some of the listings in the compatibility list wiki. I never thought N64 emulation on Wii would come this far.

I'm wondering if there should be a new thread for Wii64 au naturale (I didn't find one). This thread is for Saul's previous modification, and the first post isn't relevant to @emu_kidid 's mainline version. Someone helpful and attentive for purposes of updating the first post as needed?

I'm a bit batty about this - first run after the glorious news it ran great I think, but I didn't do much. Then I tried integrating rice as the Wiiflow plugin, and now performance is consistently less than great. Jumping plus camera movement equals significant slowdown and consequent sound garble in every configuration I've tried. ricevideolinux.ini read only or not, current version or older versions. I haven't been able to get clean performance. I also have gotten stack dumps a fair bit - once in the opening cinematic and once right after reaching the summit of Mt. Fuji.

Is there anything else in your configuration that you think could explain the discrepancy? Are you using some older cfg files in addition? Rom/cfg file location? Rom version/region? Loader environment?

The latest Rice version still has a black screen on exiting. Should I open a ticket about it @emu_kidid?
I don't have this issue on 1.4.5 or 1.4.6. My Wii is configured to launch Rice from Wiiflow as a plugin, and it reboots (to Wiiflow via Priiloader) on exit. Are you sure it's not your loader/configuration?

Well, then it only happens with the Rice version without Wiiflow, starting with version 1.4.x. Tested on clean installs.

To return to the homebrew menu correctly, you need to have a game loaded—you don't even need to start it.

There isn't much you can do to configure the loader in this regard.

I was using Wii64 Rice 1.4.5 with the ricevideolinux.ini file from 1.4.2, locked to read only. And yes it does seem to be crash prone, opening the options menu from the title screen for example crashes the game. I didn't play too far into the game though to check if it crashes further. Interpreter mode does not exhibit the options menu crash.

I'll fix the exit issue from Rice, I'd never noticed that. Also, I managed to get a bunch more from mupen64plus that I'd missed and I think things are looking better now around interrupt handling. The next release should have BattleTanx working again, Tarzan not freezing and Hydro Thunder playing. Not quite perfect but that obvious bugs I put into 1.4.6 should be fixed.

There's still some problematic titles like Shadows of the Empire just soft locking as well as the menus in Taz Express being horribly slow, they seem very picky on timing, I'll have to investigate further.

OK, last one for a little while (for real this time :P), sorry about the double post.

Rice:
  • BattleTanx = Boots and plays again, but needs CPU Clock Divider 3.
  • BattleTanx - Global Assault = Boots and plays again, but needs CPU Clock Divider 3.
  • Killer Instinct Gold (Rev 2) = I went past 2 fights without a DSI crash, but investigate further. CPU Clock Divider 1 improves framerate a lot, but makes it randomly DSI crash.
  • Tarzan = plays fine (screen scroll is a bit choppy), exploding vertices with some 3D models (Options / Save screen). Hangs with default CPU Clock Divider 2 some minutes into the level, use 1, which fixes both smoothness and doesn't hang, at least in Level 1.
  • Taz Express (Europe) = boots and plays fine again.
