I doubt it. Nothing on the CPU side was changed. I am working on ARMSX2-refresh currently, which has a bunch of CPU improvements, so that may get it booting. Overclock was 2091/921/1700.
I see, hopefully ARMSX2-refresh allows Klonoa to boot, and for P4 to not require such a big overclock

I successfully ran the siren in original resolution using 60% emulated clock and max oc. the framerate was stable enough, around 25 (the cap afaik) with occasional drops to ~15. Cutscenes are a big problem though because it seems like they have more fps than the game, or maybe there is a bug/an inefficiency in the IPU implementation (?). They are noticeably laggy and have stretching sound. Otherwise the game is almost playable, maybe with a couple of optimizations it will be ideal.>

fastmem doesn't work on Switch and never will
Hello, I want to thank you for your work! I think switch's hardware is more powerful than many people think and ps2 emulation isn't impossible on switch (pcsx2 running on linux kinda proves it). I'm not sure why you say that fastmem can't be implemented on switch. I'm no switch dev, but I researched the question a little and it seems like horizon allows for some kind of memory mappings (?) and system exception handlers, which would be enough to have at least some sort of fastmem (which would be very beneficial as software address translation is very slow). I'd like to help you where I can, even if I know little about pcsx2 codebase.

It's the Horizon kernel doesn't allow for easy recovery from faults as it shouldn't ever have to deal with that, not that the Switch hardware can't do it. I do need to remove that line though because there is a pseudo implementation of fastmem that gets maybe 60% of the performance back that was lost. If you want to take a look at the code and add some things in I wouldn't say no. It's all open source.
 
Brave Story crashes immediately after the intro publishers screen (specifically after the "Sony Computer Entertainment" logo shows) using Deko3D (this is an old problem I noticed even with the first pre-release version.)

Switching to Vulkan the game manages to actually boot. The intro FMV is very choppy and slow - but it's irrelevant to gameplay so not a very high priority.

In-game, the starting area is full speed, but later areas don't run at full speed (about 23-26~ FPS) - still playable, but you can definitely notice a difference. Minor dips here and there, but that's expected.

This is with EE set to 100% and mild underclock enabled, and overclocked while docked.

Woah, I remembered this project exists. I've had a lot of performance improvements sitting around on my hard drive for a while now, so I figured I'd throw together a proper release with them https://github.com/PalindromicBreadLoaf/ARMSX2-NX/releases/tag/v3.0.0

I saw about a 50% performance increase over 2.0.0, but that's still not enough to bring many games up to full speed, so don't get your hopes too far up. Also includes a lot of fixes that people were asking for before.
 
Could you add a feature to set custom locations for the games? I keep my games in `/roms/ps2`, and ARMSX2-NX
can't access them.

I think that would be really cool.

Kinda works is about how I would describe most of the games unless you overclock the snot out of your Switch (which does require a good binning).
Unfortunately even if I have horizon OC my Oled switch cannot go above 1900mhz in cpu frequencies

Have you tried nethersx2 yet? I haven't tested the first Jak & Dexter game myself, but a quick search online showed that the following settings might help improve performance:

Resolution: Use max 1.5x

EE Cycle Rate: Set to 60% to maintain 90-100% speed in complex areas

EE Cycle Skip: Set to Moderate

HW Download Mode: Set to disable readbacks

Maybe you have to be more aggressiv with the cycle skip and set it to maximum if your game is still laggy. And try using nethersx2 version 1.2.2 first, since the newest version 1.2.4 isn't as perfomative in my experience.
