Hacking The M3 Sakura FAQ

M3 Sakura is the new firmware for the M3 DS Real. In Japan, they made a flashcard called M3 Sakura, but that was just an M3 Real with a new sticker on it. For us North American/European users, we have the M3 Real with the M3 Sakura logo on it which is the equivalent to their M3 Sakura flashcard.

and yet at the bottom it says .....

this leads me to believe they messed up with a typo or there's actually 4 revisions if they are going by (A) being the ALPHA version moniker !?

It's not a typo.
The A-letter follows the number of "Official" Sakuras (so-called "Dual-core SAKURA" because of 2 Fws in 1 actually) that also has many changes in Sakura itself, comparing to previous official Sakura versions.

And what's with the code like this: [3957] - I'd like to know too

I want to know what those numbers at the end are supposed to mean. They can't be scene numbers.That's the total number of times each file has been downloaded as of this date. Try downloading a file (you don't even have to complete the download), then refresh the page and you'll see the number go up by one.

i made a topic in this section but ill ask here as well.
the new m3 sakura will not load my gba saves... it also makes different files in my game folder.. .opt and.is0
why?

the trippleloader hacked sakura did not have a problem...
plus i fear that my metroid fusion save may be GONE due to this!

Did you try loading the old .0 save files in TouchPod? If you can load them using TouchPod, just save the game and it should automatically convert the save into a format that's compatible with Sakura as well.

The .opt file holds information about your settings for the GBA ROM, and .is0 is the RTS file.

I know if i hold a it will go to touchpod...
and there my save works... but when i turn on sakura and try to play kingdom heart gba it will just freeze

ok i just fooled around with saves and the metroid fusion started working but my kingdom hearts just freezes sakura...

Does anyone think they can hack this for iTouch DS? If someone would at least try I'm very grateful to you. If you need me to test I would, but untill I'm off punishment then I'm no help.

-cheats don't work ;O!

Hi I've been using Sakura 1.12 for quite some time now and just put 1.34 on my cart.
It works nice and does have better homebrew compatibility.
But one thing that does not work is lmp-ng. lmp-ng is that iPod clone for the DS I used to start it through tripleloader which worked while starting it through 1.12 Sakura didn't work.
On 1.34, as soon as it starts playing a song (It doesn't even get into the playing screen) it just freezes.

Could anyone find a solution?
I'd be very grateful.


Edit: Actually I put it on like 2 weeks ago but that's not important.

TouchPod is updated there.
Actually, I don't remember anyone mentioned the "SELECT"-button bug for Asian SAKURA release.. (I guess, this bug is only Eur/USA BETA version issue)

M3 Sakura v1.34 3rd Edition A04. This release integrates the M3 Real game core v4.3e.
The same thing in other words is said on GBAlpha.
(For more precise changelog - see the changelog of TouchPod v4.3e)

Is Download-Play "ON" for the game(s) you tried to use the cheats?
afaik, the cheats won't work with games, when Download-Play function for these games is "ON"
(If my solution doesn't fit, try switching off the RTS funtion)

Hey Maurice10, the X trick works for Sakura 1.12. Sadly, LMP still doesn't work in Sakura 1.34 as it just shows text on the top screen but no images. At least, that's what it did for me. Fortunately, you can always boot into TouchPod (hold A while booting) to use LMP.

Ah, I wondered how to get back to that menu, thanks!
About touchpod, is there a way to scroll the game list faster? It takes about 2 minutes for me to reach the bottom (where LMP is).
Alternatively, is it possible to use iTouch instead of touchpod?

Unfortunately, I don't think you can speed up TouchPod - it's just the way it is. As for using iTouchDS, I have an untested theory you could try out. Get an old iSakuReal folder, and take the defaulty.nds file (renaming it to iTouchDS) and the iTouch folder. Copy iTouch to the root of your card, and place iTouchDS somewhere where you can keep track of it. Then, from within Sakura, try sliding iTouchDS to the right and see if it works. On pen and paper, it sounds like it would work flawlessly, but I don't know if Sakura 1.34 has killed iTouchDS support somehow. I know that you can't use defaulty.nds as an auto-boot because Sakura 1.34 has auto-boot taken out for some reason. Renaming the defaulty.nds file to iTouchDS should make it usable though.
