Yes, game devs and publishers do play games from rival companies and enjoy them.

I remember reading an article in Nintendo Power a while back where they were talking about games from other systems that they enjoyed, such as Ratchet & Clank, Halo, etc.

It won't load up! I wanna see Miyamoto playing KillZone 2! I'm surprised he's into gory FPS' though, we're looking at the creator of Mario, Pikmin and Zelda (and some more titles too). You woulda thought it wouldn't be his cup of tea really.

I hope this doesn't give him any ideas for a new Zelda...

I heard they might make it FPS-style.

No, you didn't. You heard that Miyamoto has always been a fan of the FPS genre and originally toyed around with the first-person perspective when he was brainstorming LoZs 3D debut (read: Ocarina of Time). That is all the article was stating.

Miyamoto has been a long time fan of FPSs (as stated above) so it's no surprise to see him enjoy Killzone, nor is it any surprise to see him playing it as Miyamoto have played countless many "rival" games. You can't crush a rival game with your own if you don't know anything about it.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a First person Zelda. With the Wii motion+ it might actually handled well. At least an extra option in the next game.

When Retro turned the Metroid game they had in development (MP) into a first person game and showed that to Miyamoto (expecting him to say no), he was the one who said to Retro "do it". So yes, I think he likes the first person view.

Who cares he is a gamer just like us. I bet he has all the M$ and Sony consoles around him in his house as well as Nintendo's. I really dont give a shit if he plays on a PS3 or Xbox 360 as long as he makes good games that is what matters.

Weird that Miyamoto loves FPS's but hasn't made one that's worth noting yet (no links crossbow training isn't worth noting). You think he would want to re-invent the genre like what he did with other games. ]

I don't think Link's Crossbow Training is a FPS...And what's their to re-invent? Maybe like putting it in your actual first person view? He does incorporate first person aspects in games though...(3D Zelda's)

People who like videogames shouldn't care what system they're on, just as long as they're good(like others have said in this thread). And why wouldn't he like gore? He just likes to make games that anyone can enjoy and dislikes how gore is selling to the masses.
