Eh? Nice one to point the finger...

How many people in US have been sued for downloading films and music? -- Many.
How many people in Australia have been sued for downloading films and music? -- New Super Mario Bros Wii guy, Kongznutz
How many people in China have been sued for downloading films and music? -- This won't happen. No copyright laws exist, last I heard.

The threat of legal action is also a means of state control...

and he is being fined a ton of money

That was for being the original uploader/distributer/ripper... not quite the same as downloading... Also, he didn't make it hard for them to catch him... He virtually gave them his name and address...

Chapter II: Unauthorized Software, Services, or Devices or Unlicensed Accessories

Your Wii Console and the Wii Network Service are not designed for use with unauthorized software, services, or devices or non-licensed accessories, and you may not use any of these with your Wii Console or the Wii Network Service. Such use may be illegal, voids any warranty, and is a breach of this agreement. Such use may also lead to injury to you or others or cause performance issues or damage to your Wii Console or the Wii Network Service. We (and our licensees and distributors) are not responsible for damage or loss caused by unauthorized software, services or devices or non-licensed accessories. We may take steps to disable or delete any unauthorized software, services or device installed in your Wii Console, for example, by detecting and disabling them through the Wii Network Service and/or game software. If we detect unauthorized software, services, or devices, your access to the Wii Network Service may be disabled and/or the Wii Console or games may be unplayable.

Looks like you might be wrong there

this wont be bad for homebrew but will be bad for people that use homebrew, i mean stuff like USB loaders i can bet you pounds to penny's that not even 90% of people use that for games backups, and i mean only games backups. it will be bad for people who dont like buying music, but who does i mean i know people that haven't paid a penny for their music for the last 5-7 years probably and if they got caught they would be in big big trouble over music but the law should focus on whats important like real criminals harming peoples lives what does piracy do, just takes the huge company's not earn as much as they want to, but hey don't need nearly half of it to live a good life do they?

who agrees?

And what if everyone thought the same way so they get no money at all? And what about the smaller companies releasing content?

I really do not believe that people should be able to download the content for free, but I do think that the cost of music, and games are far too high currently. Of course, you will always get people who will download it, no matter how cheap it becomes, but i dont think the attitude of "They make enough money anyway" is an excuse.

But then again, on this forum, I'm probably in the minority who think this way.

unauthorised software is not illegal as homebrew apps which do not contain any infringement of copyright, it will void the warranty but is legal as the wii console is mine to do as I please with. any illegal use will mean infringement of copyright, ie copy games

if I rented my console then yes I would be subjected to a different T&C, this has been discussed many times on this forum.

DEB is about downloading illegal content from the net, not about exploiting bugs within the console and or loading 3rd party apps which were made my an end user who did not charge any money for it.

the first thing the law will be used for is blocking uncontrolled news sites.

like these for example - posted so people in Australia & china can test - i'm curious!
http://whatreallyhappened.com/
http://www.rense.com/
http://iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/tiki-index.php
http://www.worldreports.org/
http://www.prisonplanet.com/

because the government is terrified of truth - any truth reaching the public.
such as the scottish labour party using childrens homes as brothels!!!

Finally a post that seems to know what's going on
wink.gif

btw it was wikileaks that got them REALLY motivated to finally get this through parliment in the UK.

They work fine in Australia, because there is no blocking. It's all just hollow words by some politicians looking for support from a particular "family" orientated group.

@BigOnYa My dad recently bought a spare Series X off of me, got game pass, and saw Madden '24 on Game Pass, decided to try it out.
