It seems to me like you don't know what it is you are talking about. Since you have no idea what Nintendo is thinking, these are claims you cannot make. There is nothing to indicate how long they have been working on fixing the security problems in their software.

But feel free to keep blaming random people on the internet if it'll make you feel better.
lol thats pretty funny

Oh sorry rants like this are hard to stop and piracy is hard to stop. Best thing to do is just do nothing.

The extent to which Nintendo went this time by patching all IOS stopping region changing and WAD installing
shows exactly this

IOS patching - stops so many things the list is too long - main effects stops ISO loader and trucha patching
Nintendo protecting its revenue stream

Region Changing - allows Nintendo to control releases in various formats - usually done by companies that
do not have the resources for wide scale worldwide releases...has the effect of being able to market a
product in 1 zone sell it make money then market in another zone and so on - nintendo protecting its
revenue stream

WAD installing - obviously protecting its Virtual Console and WiiWare revenue stream

Make no mistake - the extent of this 'minor' update to 3.3 is to protect Nintys revenue stream

My apologises to those that try in vain to argue otherwise..
true homebrew is not the cause of the new update by nintendo

nintendo were warned about their system security frailities and they took action

SHREDMAN

Protip: The backup loaders work fine. Even if you do update and have the Backup Channel installed, it does not stop it from working.

Oh and I suppose you didn't fully understand what I mean about the security issues. That was many months ago, maybe back in January. But Nintendo was warned way ahead of time about the possibility of backups running on Wii, they didn't take action until many months after. They didn't 'spring' into action as you make them out to be.

Joke topic or not. If Nintendo really wanted to shut Homebrew down they could. Just send out a update that bricks people Wiis who have Homebrew installed. Ya people would say they could then sue Nintendo. Seriously you think a court would side with us. If nintendo states their update was sent out to prevent people from playing backup and other homebrew apps. That they say is illegal, and against their user agreement.

I can see people getting cross examined.
So sir can you tell me what was on your Wii?
Well I had some VC games, Channels, and the Homebrew channel.
Homebrew Channel what is that?
Well it's a hack you use so you can play emulators, install wads and maybe play backups.
Case Closed.
So for now let's just play the game. Untill they really get serious. No one is to blame.

Don't think so. First off, user agreements represent no law whatsoever. Second, it was decided a long time ago that people are free to experiment with a device they have paid for however they want. It happened back when Nintendo tried to sue Galoob when they made the Game Genie. Nintendo was pretty much laughed out of court. They would be in serious trouble if they purposely bricked peoples Wiis.

First of all, everyone in the homebrew scene is permanently indebtted to guys like Wani, Wiigator, and team Twiizers. The great apps they have released have completely changed my use and enjoyment of the wii.

If you don't like it, then do one of two things. 1) Dont Update and keep your stuff (like me) or 2) Update and don't show your face in forums such as this again.

my sig pretty much sums up shredman...

EVERY console since the PlayStation (and some before) have been hacked in some way or another...

it's not done for piracy, but because people can! That's the true reason for hacking... because someone can.

hacking your wii is not illegal... you bought the hardware, you can do what ever you want with it... if you want to fill it with gasoline, and burn it, your allowed. if you want to run your own code after finding a security flaw, agian, perfectly legal!!!

shredman, you want to go around kissing bushing and marcans ass, you might wanna look at the facts...

THEY are the one's who released the source code on how to make a wad installer...
THEY are the one's who found the initial security flaw that allowed the backup loader to be made... oh, but bushing wanted to talk to nintendo about it, so he posted on his site that he wanted to talk to an engineer... yea, like they were going to have anyone call him to talk... get a clue...

it's your hero's that are finding all the ways to do everything, it's waninkoko and wiigator that put it to use... so if you wanna blame Waninkoko and WiiGator for writing the software, you better blame bushing and marcan and even Team Twiizers for finding the flaws in the first place!

Wait a second! Is someone gonna get their hand chopped off over this?
Although, if we can find Yoda along the way that would be awesome.

EDIT:
ON-Topic: So many high-horses, so few low-bridges.

use the force, shredman

Shedman, I am with the n00bs and youngsters on this... you are a complete idiot. You are in the wrong place to be talking that bull#%@ in the 1st place.. Write your local congressman or anti-piracy organization and leave people alone about this. You are not going to stop this from happening. You've done it and so has a lot of your family in some way... Call me a liar. It's just senseless to argue this as you mentioned, so why start a thread about it if you knew that?! Did you miss your shrink appointment?

By the way.. I am an original scene pirate and I will steal your shit if you turn your head for a second.. So don't publish any Âopyrights under your name because I will have a copy as soon as it hits the wire. Furthermore, this discussion was pointless and that is why I replied in this pointless matter.

Know how to stop piracy? Drop you anchor...(internet connection)... Then you won't have to worry about this stuff and you can continue on your dull miserable life as a public domain homebrewer with a shorted gc controller thinking... wish I was close to Wan or Gator so I could smell the code on their fingers. Honey where's my vicmodem and pong paddle at?

Peace.

"Drop your anchor" is the best term I've heard related to software piracy ever, although the ad hominem attacks weren't really necessary.

Also, the only thing that was inevitable was someone coding a backup loader, although there's probably some truth in that Wackawackawackapanini (I don't really feel like scrolling up to find out how to spell his name) wanted to withhold the code for his original backup launcher SPECIFICALLY because he didn't want Nintendo to develop countermeasures for it so soon. There's some great logic to that, actually, and I don't blame him for being upset.

Like it or not, the things he codes are a fact of any homebrew community: someone is going to write software to play games on the system they won't/can't buy. Please, are you going to try to tell me that emulating games with pirated roms is somehow morally superior to installing VC wads? I guarantee that's what 99% of the homebrew community is doing with their Wii: emulating. If they're not emulating, they're porting games to the thing. There have been some extremely useful, practical tools for the Wii, even in its burgeoning stages, don't get me wrong, but one of the goals of hacking a console is then figuring out how to play backups on it, among other things. This has been the way of it since... forever? Or so? Maybe a little longer?

In short, the OP is being amazingly naive and I agree that he might be a little bit stupid as well. This was inevitable; the only thing surprising about it is that it happened so quickly.

hahahahahahahha seriously ?? wow

i hate people who keep saying piracy is bad and all that

sure its against the law. but its really fun

and if you have an option to get all the free games you want and don't take it, you're not that smart.
