I'll stop the shitting on them once they do something right for once, but until them, I don't care, I really don't. TX owes you nothing.

Why do you care? You're acting like a child throwing a tantrum because they don't get what they want. I'm not doing this for TX, I'm doing this because the TX hating trolls are making gbatemp horrible.

Please explain where he blamed them for a random password?????

"Including bricking code in earlier builds that if triggered improperly would lock the eMMC with random code from the stack and if triggered properly would use the password "WANNA PLAY :)"

If he wasn't blaming them he wouldn't have mentioned it. If any code is called improperly it will behave randomly, that is just something that happens.

It's obviously designed to strike fear into people "oh noez, a random password"

Atmosphere will brick your console if you call it's code improperly too.

You can probably brick just by calling Horizon improperly

If you think they're few in number you might wanna get your sight checked.

There's a bunch of people on both sides, don't be ridiculous.

Blindly brand loyal sycophants? Yeah not seeing many of those. Plenty of people that are saying "you know what, they have given me something others were unwilling* or unable to give me, in a reasonably workable fashion no less, and have otherwise done OK by me. Those people saying they are not good are mostly chatting nonsense or irrelevance**, what the fuck yo?".

*several of the various devs made something of a show of not providing such abilities, and we had a whole big thread when the layeredfs stuff leaked and people twisted it for use with copied games where one of the core tenets seemed to be "piracy is wrong", further arguments I saw in the earlier "TX is bad people" threads were "XCI is only good for piracy" to which I would have had to counter "sure, seems like it is fucking good for it though".

**maybe not irrelevant if you approach the world in certain ways, but from the perspective of those that just want to play their copied and hacked games it would be.

Also "both sides"? I am seeing loads of people with both subtly and widely varying approaches and perspectives.

I'll stop the shitting on them once they do something right for once
From where I sit there were first out the gate with a reasonably useable solution for copied games/backups/pirated games and to this day remain if not the best then a seriously viable option for that. The quality of their coding and approach to the world may well leave something to be desired but they do have the previous thing going for them.

Weak point. It's not 2002 anymore. We have bug bounties where you can go find vulns and get your money.

@smf
That's not blaming them for the random password but for the brick code in general...

I'm not directly blaming them. I added it in noting how it was discovered.

Secondly, this code was designed to brick, which is the bigger issue you seem to be conveniently avoiding.

It's a friggin company that makes devices meant to allow piracy and the like on home consoles... does this kind of move honestly shock or surprise anyone? Yeah, they're scum, but they've ALWAYS been scum by the very nature of what their company does.

Doesn't matter. Nintendo pays for any security vulnerability.

In fact many of these devs do bug bounties. Not only for Nintendo but multiple platforms. You can be sure they don't need the money from TX.

Yeah, $20k. You think the people making these commercial products only get paid $20k for their work? :D

I can be sure they take money from flash cart and modchip makers because I know who they are and who they work for. ReSwitched indeed.

See the edit above. They hunt bugs not exclusively for the Switch. I'm not saying they are all white knights but there are not nearly as many assholes as there used to be anymore. Security pays very well these days.

How about you all be quiet and start working on a Daphne LaserDisc emulator for some DL 1 + 2 and Space Ace JUST to name a few.....

jk jk (= I hope some resolution gets reached and just wanted to mention I have been making some themes in PS specifically for the Switch that I think others will enjoy. I will upload just the artwork later on. :)

Well then it was poorly worded, because that is not how it reads.

It was designed to brick if you tried to hack it, has it ever bricked anyone other than Mike?

I'm quite disappointed at the mods here.
Locking the thread, good, blocking users, banning users, good, stopping the thread from derailing further. Good.

At least in my own case I feel like I was presenting reasonable arguments in a respectful manner.
I don't see any reason for my posts being removed.

It doesn't pay anywhere near as well as coding for a flash cart or modchip. I can assure you at least one member of ReSwitched has made more money from creating flash carts over the years than reporting any bugs.

Not that I've ever seen around several different sites, and although that's an important point, I think it freaks people out just knowing that it was in there.

It seems to freak them out that it was once there, even though it isn't now and hasn't ever triggered. That seems like an irrational fear.

Unfortunately, that's what happens when someone who appears to be an "expert" tells you that it could happen to anyone in normal use.

I believe there are leakers in there (including kate before she got kicked). I don't know of anyone of them selling their soul (i would like evidence).

That's a valid point. I have no idea who is even in ReSwitched anymore since they cannibalized their own members. But the person I'm speaking of was a prominent member originally.
