SX Pro is now rolling off the production line - more of your Questions Answered

Everyone has been wondering how things are moving along with getting the SX PRO devices into the hands of the official resellers, and today we had the pleasure to be given an exclusive tour of the inside of the Team-Xecuter factory, and we took some cool photos of the assembly line in operation, and at the same time the developers took a break out of their busy schedule to answer some more of your questions you been having recently since the last SX update a few days ago.

SX-LINE.jpg

The clock is ticking and we are getting closer to Xecuter SX line launch date.

We wanted to share some of the pictures of the first units coming out of our assembly lines and of the packaging for SX Pro. We are very satisfied with the product quality and we are certain you will be as well. We will have some video and maybe another announcement coming and then it will be TIME!

Before we leave you, our usual Q&A to your most popular questions.
  • Q: Is SX OS compatible with firmware 5.1.0
    A:
Of course. And as we stated before, it will be compatible with the next updates as well. We are offering a future proof solution.
  • Q: Will the SX OS for people who bought it 'stand alone' be delivered before the SX OS for people who bought SX Pro?
    A:
Not necessarily. SX Pro will be shipped in the days to come to distributors. SX OS will be unlocked a bit after the reviewers get their units (all reviewers receive SX Pro).
So depending on the speed of delivery to your distributor and then to you, SX Pro could come before SX OS stand alone. It probably will be very close.
  • Q: Why is there - and + symbols engraved in the SX Pro dongle?
Since USB-C devices can be plugged in either way, people are worried if dongle plugged in upside down, the + on left and - on right, and SX label facing down, that the Switch will blew up or get bricked, etc.
    A:
They are here just for cosmetic reasons. The - symbol is also the LED window.
  • Q: Yikes, those are two huge caps in render picture? Is that going to taser my Switch, damage my system, or zap me!
    A:
Super Cap’s actually (super-capacitor), 0.35F 2.7V, given the transport issues with Lithium based batteries SuperCap’s are fast becoming the go to temporary power source.
No zapping ( very low voltage ) and we limit the charge current to ~400mA peak for either USB port.
  • Q: Huh, two caps, how do they get 'charged'? Do I have now and then plug my dongle into micro-USB cable to charge it, what happens when it runs out of power? -- Why not battery instead? -- Does it instead drain my Switch battery, what happens if I leave it plugged in.
    A:
The SuperCap’s are charged from either usb port ( USB-C or Micro USB ). The caps offer approximately 1 week standby time with enough energy left for one boot, or at least 5 successive boots without the opportunity to auto-charge. Charge to 80% is achieved (automatically) within 1-2 seconds of entry into the Nintendo start menu. We are working reducing that considerably … (see above for why not battery). Because we are powered by s-cap’s we have a very power conscious design.
Leaving the dongle in the console for more than a minute is pointless but will do no harm in any way to the dongle and drain very little battery ( currently we draw ~25mA but will work on reducing that considerably after ~1-2 minutes charge mode).
  • Q: Can I charge my Switch via dongle?
Using just micro-usb cable, removing the need of needing a proper usb-c cable.
    A:
Sadly no, our intent for the micro USB port was for charging the dongle and firmware updates, but might be something we will consider for future hardware revisions, thanks.
  • Q: There been reports of cables, and docks without that bricked the battery charging circuit, are we at risk with SX Pro solution?
    A:
No, simply because we do not support charging. The dongle uses both USB ports only for receiving charge.
  • Q: Is TX coming up with solution for those that leave their Switch always 'docked'?
Its nice, that is portable, but some users never go 'portable', they are DOCK only fans, what about them?
    A:
If the demand is there, it is something we can develop.

Using an offline emuNAND for CFW and an online OFW minimizes the risk of a ban.

If TX had EmuNAND support, this situation could be easily mitigated towards running your illegal backups on SysNAND but playing your legitimately purchased games online with EmuNAND. I'm kind of surprised. Its like they're confident people won't get banned for using their product, maybe too confident...

I keep reading these two different schools of thought regarding which nand is better to use for CFW/backups and which is better for legit cart games.

My question is which nand is better for cfw/offline use and why? And how do you mitigate the "offline" nand having a lower FW? Eventually most backups won't be able to be launched because they require a higher FW to play.

I've thought of this and the only way I can think of is backing up your saves via Checkpoint, upgrading your sysNAND, creating a new emuNAND on the latest FW, then injecting your backed up saves to emuNAND. Personally, this is the reason I picked up a second console (tablet only to save some $$$), so I can update emuNAND while staying online and not worrying about it getting banned.

I won't buy those money leechers' product which is design for obvious purpose... probably their OS was stolen from Atmosphere's code as well.

Guys don't support them, just be more patient and wait Scires' Atmosphere, it's also FREE :D
You can't steal from open source

The idea is whichever nand you want to play online with will be the one you need to keep updated. So emunand.

Sure you can. Theres different licenses. If you copy code and don't acknowledge the original author is an example of stolen code.

But doesn't make the sysnand useless? Let's say it's on FW 4.1. You create an emunand that is updated as new FW comes out and can play games online. Eventually most backups won't be able to run on 4.1 so your sysnand backup loader will be useless. You'll need to update it to keep up with newer games.

The idea is that your sysNAND turns into an offline, homebrew-only NAND. You can regenerate emuNANDs all you want if they get banned, but ideally sysNAND stays clean

Online will require something up to date, so typically, a person will play online with emuNAND. However, using emuNAND requires CFW, which could flag one to be banned. Personally, I'd accept the minimal ban risk and play online with my emuNAND, but if you want to bring your ban risk to vanishingly small, using an up to date and untouched sysNAND might arguably be the way to go.

If your sysnand remains the offline nand, then eventually it will be useless for playing backups. Future games will require a higher FW and the sysnand's FW won't be able to support them.

Wouldn't it be better to play online with sysnand and keep the emunand that requires CFW offline? This way your sysnand is legit and won't get banned, and your offline emunand has no way (or a lesser chance) of being discovered while allowing you enjoy homebrew.

Yes, it is arguable that this would be the best way to avoid a ban. I don't think it's worth this kind of effort, in my opinion.

It's not the nand that gets banned. It's the console. So if you get banned while using emunand, then your whole console is banned. Sysnand too.

yeah, I'm kinda hoping TX/Atmosphere have a mode that will just force offline mode and disable all logging to make things as safe as possible, although I would prefer it if Nintendo took a similar stance as with the 3DS in regards to banning, and mainly just focus on banning online cheaters or people doing obvious shit like playing games before official release

While I completely understand why companies would want to ban pirates, ultimately your not going to stop them, and as long as they don't start dicking about ruining online play for others all it means if you have a bigger pool of players online for legitimate customers to enjoy playing online multiplayer with, especially when the bans also ban people buying new games from the eshop effectively pushing them further towards pirating even more games as they can no longer buy digital games legitimately even if they wanted too

I guess the banning stuff works more for the ps3/4 or 360/XB1 as they have a big online play focus and a large number of banned pirates would feel like they are missing out enough to buy a new console, but for Nintendo systems there is only ever a few games that have any major draw for online play anyway, I'm guessing most people wouldn't want to buy another £200 system just to play 3 games online

Really helpful answer. I was wondering how you would mount your sd card with switch to PC so I can copy over the files.

If you don't have the exFAT driver on your console, format the SD card as fat32 using guiformat tool. Then you will have to use XCI-Cutter to cut any files larger than 4GB to fit them on the card.
