Hi guys,

i'm trying to repair a Nintendo switch. it wont display anything on the screen when pressing the power button. I tried re-seating all the ribbon cables and plugs, but still no luck. when I plug the switch with the AC adapter without the battery plugged in I get this sound () when I plug in the switch with the AC adapter WITH the battery plugged in it makes this noise like its trying to start up and power cycle () but nothing still happens. I purchased a multimeter that beeps when set to continuity and it should be coming in soon so I can check all the resistors and capacitors, but is this a common issue? I think the issue might be from the p13usb chip.

Thanks!

Edit: Ok after getting a new Mulitmeter I have found some capacitors that are shorting in these photos. where should I look next?

the orange one

Now I think this cant be the Realtek IC

You don't think its the Realtek IC causing the issue? I have a multimeter on the way, mine I have now does not beep for continuity, so ill check the resistors around the chip when it comes in.

Thanks for the response. i'm not sure where that is, but I want to learn. I will check it out when I get my multimeter.

Thanks again!

Thank you for your help, I see those on my motherboard, what ones near what chip did you change out? that's the ones near the bq23193 chip.

You are saying you changed out those chips but still having issues?

Yes. Symptoms remain the same after replacement.

I haven't seen any examples of solving this problem.

Chip I replaced m92t36, bq24183, p13usb

It is clear that there is a problem elsewhere.

Check the caps under the SOC (back of the board, middle area) if you have shorts there, you mostly have a goner unfortunately

That resistor is low ohm’s or even 0 ohm’s not sure but it will buzz your multimeter if your using it to test for shorts.

Check the big coil next to bq24193 if your getting humming

@BakerMan, Any idea what happened? I hope that your brother's doing good.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.

He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.

What matters now is that he's doing alright.
