So my Nintendo Switch no longer wants to boot with the ReiNX payload. I gave it to my son without my supervision for the the first time, took him less than 30 minutes to break something. I asked him what did he do, but anyone who's asked a kindergartner "what did you do" knows all the wonderful unrelated responses children give

When I connected it to the PC, it wasn't detected in RCM mode (I use TegraRCM GUI). So I held the power button for 12 seconds to power it off even though it SEEMS like it's off. This allows it to be detected in RCM mode. I then tried to send the ReiNX payload. It will quickly flash the ReiNX logo then go black. It will stay black and unresponsive until the power button is again held for 12 seconds. I sent the Hekate payload, and it successfully boots there at least and I could see the battery is sufficiently charged, navigate through Hekate's menus, but AFAIK it is of no use to me.

Any advice as to what could be the cause and/or a solution?

buy a rcmloader, and u have 99% success

It's not a problem of the payload arriving successfully to the Switch, rather a refusal to actually boot into the CFW. I tried within Hekate to boot using the ReiNX payload, but same issue. I also moved everything from my SD to the PC (as well as make an image of the SD card incase) to see if a clean SD with the basic ReiNX files would fix it, but the issue persists.

Sound like he updated the system, which latest firmware 9.0.0 is not supported by anything other than Atmosphere currently.
So maybe try switching to Atmosphere unless you want to wait until ReiNX finally updates.

Maybe he updated the system? You might need to use Atmosphere until Reinx is updated.

My Switch was unfortunately banned shortly after completing the process of CFW. I have previously read that you cannot update a banned Switch OTA (normally from the Switch itself), in which case you must use ChoiDujour I believe to update manually. Unless I'm wrong?

Different bans block different things. Some bans still allow you to obtain updates.

yes or delete this kids porno cfw :shit:

It took me a while to understand what you were saying. It's impolite to flame their work. I understand there's this "Atmosphere is best" thing going around the same way people will argue whether Apple or Android is better, etc. There is absolutely no need for the fanboyism, everyone has their preference. In my case, it was more of a what I could understand at the time.

At the time I decided to modify my Switch, I did research to compare CFWs and ReiNX seemed to be the way to go. Same goes for guides, ReiNX was pretty straightforward. I disliked the boot logo, but it worked for it's intended purpose. When I wanted to give Atmosphere a try, I couldn't find the payload file to use in the zip. I later realized that the payload file is provided right below where the zip is downloaded on.

Before 9.0.0 was released, I tried once to check for an update and it refused to even begin to check; I'd be immediately greeted with the ban message.

In any event, you guys were correct, and I must thank you, I never would have figured it updated itself. I know a few of my titles were asking for an update, but it seems that perhaps it was also asking for a system update somewhere along launching the games.

I did what you guys said and used Atmosphere. I previously didn't use Atmosphere because of the fact that I never found the payload file for it (I found it right beneath the zip file on Github -_- ). Sure enough, it's on 9.0.0 and all of my games updated. It also wouldn't let me update games before without the ban message showing up, so I'm really not sure what's going on this time around, but as long as my Switch works, I'm a happy camper.

Thank you guys.
