Hacking Switch Informations by serial number - READ THE FIRST POST before asking questions

Sorry about that. The reason I asked despite myself owning the same set is because I bought mine in Dec last year and am sourcing for a console for a friend. But since the patched sets started appearing I am worried that getting the same bundle would not work due to newer batches, hardware revisions etc.

Serials beginning with XAJ4:
XAJ40052X and below are safe to buy
XAJ40053X not safe to buy, probably patched
XAJ4006XX and above definitely patched

Guess it's pretty safe...

Just purchased one of these Mario Odyssey Bundle Edtion Switch's with Serial: XAJ1001, from ebay new £310. Bit pricey but if SX Pro works it be well worth it.

I did notice a lot of brand new low firmware/CFW ready Switch's on ebay, you just need to send a message to the seller asking for the first 8 digits of the S/N. Most of the sellers will provide this as they want a quick sale.

Out of curiosity, went to a local shop to see which Switch models they have is store.

Was very surprised that all 3 units were with quite a low firmware !
One was on 3.0.0 (XAJ400169 - XAJ400191 range)
2 were probably on 2.2.0 (XAJ400105 - XAJ400174 range)

I wonder is there still is any reason to get a low firmware model (just talking about firmware, as those models are certainly vulnerable to fusée gelée)...

The lowest the firmware, the highest chance of eventually get a coldboot exploit. That's the theory, at least. The first Switch I bought about a year ago has 2.3 firmware, and never connected to the internet. I bought a second Switch to enjoy the current homebrew and hacking scene, fully updated since I don't mind using Fusée Gelée forever on it. If there isn't any development for my low firmware unit for the next year or two, I'll probably just update it and forget about coldboot exploit, being just a pipe dream.

I just got my SX Pro Dongle/Jig. I had tried a cheap eBay jig and the paper clip method, but couldn't get it into RCM Mode. SX dongle worked perfectly and confirmed my fears. Trying to decide if I should scramble to find another one that will work or just hold on for Xecuter to come up with a hack. Any thoughts on staying on 4.1.0? Or should I just go ahead and update? Assuming it's safest to stay as-is if I want to take advantage of future hacks.

Assuming TX does not figure out their own exploit for the ipatched switch, the Deja Vu exploit will be released eventually, and it is compatible with your firmware. Regardless, if you plan on eventually using hacks, do not update!!

It's really up to you, but if I was in your shoes, I would just sell it (probably at a loss) and hunt for a hackable unit. They are still widely available at this point, I'm sure, but you just have to be careful. Take note of the safe serial numbers and check in stores which don't sell their stock too fast, meaning avoid stores like Best Buy or Walmart. You'll have a better chance of finding an older unit. Deja Vu exploit will work with 4.1, but nobody knows when it will be released, and it's also unknown if it will be as practical as Fusée Gelée.
