I have a Jailbroken N3DS XL and I was swapping my 16gb micro sd card with a 32gb one and when i booted it up all my homebrew apps were gone, Including homebrew launcher. when i went to check if gm9 and luma were still there they were, but after trying to open rosalina menu to open hb launcher and run faketik in download play, it didn't work. Please Help!

If you look on your
"d:\Nintendo 3DS\" folder you should find 2 folders with names of 32 characters. one empty and other with content, that folder correspond to the SD Card ID, so you need to copy / move the files of the old folder to the new folder.

I've got 2, but they both have things in them and one of them has an additional 2 folders with 32 character names.

Did you just insert the new sd card into the 3ds, without copying data from the old sd card first?
Are these 2 folders in the new sd card, the old or both?
I copied the data, but I figured it out by comparing my backup on my pc with my original 16gb micro sd deleted the 32 character files that weren't there before, and everything was fine. Thanks!

I hope you didn't merge the two 32 character folders together, 'cause that's not how it works. Did you delete the newly created one, and copied back the one from the old sd card? And now your games & homebrew apps are appearing again?

Ok, Let me explain a little more:

When you put a SD card on a 3ds system the 3DS OS create a folder for store the data the folder is:

SD:\Nintendo 3DS\1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF\FEDCBA0987654321FEDCBA0987654321\

Where the first folder "1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF" correspond to the UNIQUE ID of your 3DS system.
and second folder "FEDCBA0987654321FEDCBA0987654321" correspond to the UNIQUE ID of the SD Card

so, if you have a FIRST SD card with the Unique ID FEDCBA0987654321FEDCBA0987654321 and you want to transfer your data to a new SD Card you need to make the next steps:
  • Turn off the 3ds.
  • Remove the ORIGINAL SD card.
  • Insert the NEW SD card and start the system, start the 3DS and wait until all the wizards finish.
  • Turn off the system.
  • Put the NEW SD card on a PC.
  • Open a file browser and look for the recent created folders, by example:
  • SD:\Nintendo 3DS\1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF\AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA\
  • Take note of the name of the new folders.
  • Insert the ORIGINAL SD card to PC, copy all the contents to a TEMPORAL folder on your PC.
  • Insert the NEW SD card to PC copy all the contents from the Temporal folder to the NEW SD but DO NOT COPY the NINTENDO 3DS folder.
On the NEW SD card, delete all contents of
SD:\Nintendo 3DS\1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF\AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA\ folder

now Copy the contents of the folder:
C:\TEMPORAL\Nintendo 3DS\1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF\FEDCBA0987654321FEDCBA0987654321\

To the NEW SD card on path:
SD:\Nintendo 3DS\1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF\AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA\

I know, it's a riddle, but Nintendo does that way to avoid you "upgrade" the SD card, moreover, Nintendo doesn't support officially any SD greater to 32GB but all we know they works just fine.

put the NEW card on the 3DS and turn on as usual, all should work fine now.

As I read on the post your actual setup have several folders inside the SD:/Nintendo 3DS folder so if you have several folder with IDs (32 hexadecimal numbers) that means you has been used that SD on different 3DSs. if you have several folders with IDs on SD:\Nintendo 3DS\1234567890ABCDEF1234567890ABCDEF\ (this is a example) mean you copy data from another SD to this SD.

In any case the only combination of data what works on a 3DS system must be on the correct 3DS/SD ID folders combination.

@impeeza , one mistake, Nintendo officially supports up to 32GBs, not 4. they say anything larger can cause stability issues while in reality it's sluggish for like a second or two, but then all is fine. you encounter no lag in games, at least that I've seen, just when booting up is it sluggish.

  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol

Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol

I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
