I actually have a EUR N3DS, just region swapped to USA, however there really is absolutely no reason for memchunkhax2.1 to not work. I do the *hax loading process basically the same as any other exploit. Once again, I'd take it up whoever maintains memchunkhax2.1, it's clearly an error in their software and there's nothing I would be able to change on my end I'm fairly certain.
I would be willing to do that. As a matter of fact, I have already been looking around for the fellow who manages that.
Going to do the asking right now, so yeah, wish me luck.
(Not that I need luck for asking stuff, but still)

Im really not getting what the N3DS problem could be... (memchunkhax/2/2.1)
Then again, I can say the same for Smashax
The common theme between smashax and supermysterychunkhax is really large code.bins, which could mess with gspwn, but that wouldn't explain (v*)hax allegedly not working since that game has a really small code size.

What is different between O3DS and New3DS Homebrew?
Asking because I am certain I have downgraded a system (O3DS 10.7.0-32U) using supermemchunkhax (It was not a stock system, but it had very little downloaded onto it)

In terms of gspwn, which is what memchunkhax2.1 uses, FCRAM allocations are different. Hence you have N3DS vs o3DS ROP payloads to account for differences in allocation locations for gspwn.

Now I'm even more determined to try supermemchunkhax for downgrading when I get a New3DS!
Now that I think about it I remember Ironhax having downgrade issues

And have you tested salt_sploit_installer on your EUR N3DS with a digital copy of PMSD?
With the latest firmware 10.7?

For me this doesn't work. See posts back. I am not the only one where it doesn't work.
We get a red screen at the bottom and nothing else.

@Plailect
Of course:

-1st. You have to launch Homebrew launcher through supermysterychunkhax.
-2nd. Open menuhax manager
-3rd. Install (If you're on 10.7 it won't install, but do it anyways)
-4rd. Select the 3rd option (Configure/check haxx trigger...)
-5th. Select Type1 bind and bind a key (I bind L)
-6th. Come back to HBLauncher
-7th. Open PlaiSysUpdater
-8th. Enjoy you're downgrade ;)

PD: I just signed up to share that fix that worked 4 me

Probably needs to reset the memory state by loading any other homebrew application first, this will need some testing.

Reminds me of the FTBrony thing
I still believe that thing was purely coincidental :P

Yes, It was. I was doing the arm9loaderhax on my friend's 3ds and I did that because of yes, and later, when I refreshed the 1st page of reddit's guide "From nothing to ARM9LoaderHax" I saw this exploit
strikethrough and I said "Dafuq, I just downgraded that 3ds with this exploit" XD

This was on an O3DS? The problems seem to occur on the N3DS only, so I don't actually think this will solve the problem. But I'll try it a couple times anyway.

I have a physical copy of [US] PKMN SMD and will be buying a second-hand [US] n3ds soon. I was really looking forward to it so I decided to read the tutorial, then I noticed the SMD hack is incompatible? Reading the thread, I can sum up that only [EU] versions of the game/n3ds aren't working. Is this correct or are [US] versions also affected?

For as far as I can read: no US console user has sent in a complaint yet. That said, I don't see any comment on N3DS 10.7.0-32U downgrades around here, so it may just not work.
If you have that N3DS, and you are going to try it, and the problem has not yet been resolved, can you report here what your result is? Because that would probably be quite useful.

In another subject: after a Factory Reset, I tried about 20 times with no result (stuck at "HAX INIT...")

As for the previously mentioned MenuHax Manager trick, I tried it about 7 times now, and again, stuck at "HAX INIT..."

GUYS I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO DOWNGRADE.

Here is all I had done for this, in order of execution:
-Install supermysterychunkhax with smashbroshax
-Factory Reset the system (possibly not required, but I thought I'd mention it anyway)
-Format Micro SD (fat32 ofcourse), in a full format, not Windows's Fast Format Mode.

I did not use the Menuhax Trick mentioned above.

I only needed one try.

PlaiSysUpdater was used.

No Softbricks, black screens, whatever appeared.

The System was, as mentioned previously, a N3DS 10.7.0-32E.

So this fully confirms the ability to downgrade on that version. An SD Card Format is most likely required though.

Nevermind I guess it isn't released yet haha

I can confirm that SVchax/Memchunkhax 2.1 DEFINITELY does NOT work with the current version of the exploit of this game on a New 3DS. No way to downgrade yet with this explot.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
