Just saw your post above, thought I'd just clarify what I meant by the message

When I first tried this out, I used the drum version in the links above on a DSi using a 2Mb SD card (IIRC - I THINK the OS was 1.03 at the time). When I tried starting the program I got the 'failed to initialise' message showing on screen & nothing else
------------------------------
Since then - there's been a few updates to the DSTwo kernel so I thought I'll re-try it again for you.... right now !!!

The weird thing is.....it NOW works on a DSi,
so I'm guessing that the latest kernel has better Homebrew support & has 'fixed' the problem I originally had

Since it is now working I can tell you that ONLY the top screen has anything displayed, It looks a little like
Code:
[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[X |ÂÂ|ÂÂ|
[X |ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[X |ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|
[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[X |ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|
[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|
[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|
[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|
[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[X |ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ|ÂÂ[X |ÂÂ|X |
Bass Drum 1/1 BPM: 175
DS Drum Machine
  • If you're getter that above then the program must be working OK
If you NOT getting the above displayed, then there must be some other problem
Drum Machine controls are:-
  • You move a cusor ( '!' ) around using the D-pad,
    press [ A ] to place a 'X'
    Press [ B ] to remove it
Press 'Left' shoulder button to slow down BPM
Press 'Right' shoulder button to speed up BPM
@alidsl: I know it's been a while but I guess you can now change

Thanks for taking the time out to look into things & getting back to me, much appreciated.

Yeah, the info you've given certainly clears things up.
I'm using DSL rather than DSi but I got/am getting the same screen as you.
I'd figured out the basic controls from having a play but I'd been enticed by that screen shot on the download page and thought there might be further control options on the touch screen (it certainly looks nice). I suppose I was hoping for summat a bit more Korg DS 10 like input wise, although I was quite happy playing around with the possibilities on offer.

QUOTEThe program itself runs on the top screen of the Nintendo DS and automatically starts playing the default beats upon launching the program.

That's great CannonFoddr, I'm satisfied with that, I'll check out some of the other audio packages too.

What would you guys recommend for a NES emulator if I was using a DS lite? NesDS or Nesterds? My card got fried and I had to get a new one, and I couldn't remember which emulator i had, but it lagged a lot.

odd request, is there a way to make a plugin like the R4DS2 plugin, where it will load other firmware?
I doubt it.... if I understand what you are trying to ask for (can you supply a link to this 'R4DS2 plugin' so that we can see what it does)

I am assuming what you mean is a plugin that is similar to perhaps the 'M3 Quadboot' where on booting up a game you can select which firmware to use to attempt to run the game (IIRC - the M3 Quad boot has M3 Sakura, M3 Touchpad, R4i RTS, and YSMenu to choose from)

I can't really see WHY you would want a thing like that on the DSTwo - AFAIK all games work without problem with the current DS2 firmware (the only reason for the Quadboot is that SOME games work better with one OS while others work with another)

I would guess that POSSIBLY some1 MAY develop an alternative OS for the DS2 (since the SDK is avalaible) that may allow better/extra functions (I know there's a couple of alternative 'plugin' OS's in the works) but why 'fix' something that isn't broken

ok, trying to find a link to the plugin for the R4DS2 plugin
here it is: Wood R4 DSTwo plugin

the main reason im looking for something like this, due to the fact, none of my other friends has a dstwo, my friends are scattered between different flashcarts and i have no way of testing stuff for them, i mean i have been trying to configure something like above plugin but im having no luck with the stuff

only side effect of this plugin is, that you can only have a 2gb micro sd card when testing it

Thanks for the link - didn't even know such a thing existed.... (personnally I didn't think it was possible for Wood to work on a DS2 as it was designed for R4's)

As for the Loader - if oresamada (I'm guessing he's the one who made it) give out the source code for the loader then I guess other people can come up with more loaders for other firmwares

The only thing I best warn you about is that since the 'Wood' was made for R4's there could be a problem of running it on a DS2. You could break your card

IIRC there was a problem running YSMenu on Acekards, since YSMenu was originally designed for the DSTT version of cards & some people complained that their AK's were getting broken

hm.. i will take the chance though cannonfoddr, cause im really tired packing and loading my external HDD & laptop everytime my friends need help fixing their flashcarts >__>

but really i have been running wood as a last resort to test for some of my friends that have a R4 flashcarts, also there has been mods for ysmenu to work on supercard DSone/i, so that really peeked my interest

very good game cannon, also odd question how many plugins can a DSTwo handle w/o messing up too much?
Dunno - never tried too many plugins at once, but I can tell you I currently have 22 'plugin' on my DSi without any problems
  • DS_Game (actually I've renamed it to 'NDS Games')
  • GBA Emulator (renamed it to 'GBA Games')
  • Lameboy (renamed it to 'GB/C Games')
  • SNES Emulator
  • iReader
  • iPlayer
  • Moonshell
  • DSOrganize
  • Colors
  • UAPaint
  • EveryExtenDS
  • LemmingsDS
  • MarbleDS
  • Meteora
  • Maziacs
  • StillAlive
  • TakeThe Eggs
  • VideoGamesHero
  • PocketPhysics
  • DSTwo Skin Installer
  • SavBackup
  • ComicBookDS
Counting the 'dots' along the bottom of the official OS there's ~25 of them, although Vatoloco claimed to have had 'at least 100' in this post

ok, blonde question, i have a few plugins i want to rename but it will not allow me to rename them for worth a dang >__>

so how did you rename the GBA & GBC emu plugin?

also the one im trying to rename is the calculator plugin, sorry im asking so many questions from you cannon
smile.gif

Are you Blonde ??

Anyway - The Plugin 'name' that is shown on the menu is changed by a line in the ini file
If you open any ini file in Notepad you will see something like
Code:
[plug setting]
icon=fat1:/_dstwoplug/Maziacs.bmp
name=Maziacs
Notice the line 'name=Maziacs' - this is the line you need to change for the title shown

So all you have to do is open the ini file that is related to the program you want to rename (so for the Gameboy Emulator you open 'Lameboy.ini') and change the line 'name=Lameboy' to 'name=GB Games' (or whatever you want), save it & on the next startup the Lameboy name should be changed

As for the Calculator - I'm guessing you mean Zognc ?? - if that's the case open up Zognc.ini & change the 'name=' line in that

so thats what the problem is
i tried running that and it said "r4 not support sdhc"
but doesn't wood r4i gold support sdhc?
and i tried using that with wood r4i gold but the same result
donno why

3 more plugin made for Homebrew games

PLEASE NOTE currently 'Arsenal' DOES NOT WORK on Supercard DSTwo. I'm only including it so there's one avaliable If/When it does work

To All with WiKi access: I've already added these (& the Maziacs one) to the Wiki

@alidsl : I think you'll need to change the link to the 'Sourceforge: 16bitbmp converter' as it doesn't exist anymore since Xenon++ has deleted it
(Original Spinal_cord converter found @ http://filetrip.net/f11539-DSTwo-Icon-Saver-1-0.html)

EDIT: For some reason my original plugin files were deleted from Filetrip (possibly by accident during a clean up of Filetrip) ...
... See post 3 below for updated Links to the plugins
