I see that only DSL, (Lite?) and DSi are listed. What about the DSi XL?

Thanks.

I think it's because what ever works on the dsi will also work on the XL...with the exception of the NES emulator

Exactly - IIRC the DSL hardware is basically the same as a DSPhat's while the DSi hardware is virtually the same as a DSi XL (except it has come to light that the DSiXL may have a 'special' fixed screen refresh rate [post #356 has more info about this] - which is why the NES emulator(s) can cause screen damage)

Also @ the time when I started doing plugins (& testing them) I only had/have a DSL and DSi to test with
& since only some worked on a DSL & not the DSi (this was pre-v1.03 eos BTW) I wanted an 'easy' way to let alidsl know which homebrew worked on which system, hence the [DSL/DSi] stuff. 'alidsl' must've thought it was a good idea & so included it into the first post

Since eos v1.03 though I believe the homebrew support has greatly improved - I've yet to come across any homebrew that doesn't work on a dsi - so basically you can say virtually all Homebrew will now work on either DSPhat/DSL/DSi and DSiXL EXCEPT for a couple that MAY cause damage on the DSi XL due to this screen refresh business

@ Vatoloco: 'Take the Eggs' link seems dead - here's another link

Feexed eet! Thanks for the heads-up, Cannonfodder =)
i hadnt even noticed i'd left a mediafire link up, i was aiming for all filetrip links.
hmm, i think im gonna go through and try to make prog links do the rest of the icons ive built.

btw, Cannon, i really like the visual and explanation you posted on common causes for plugs not showing up, it will help a lot of ppl =)

edit: just added book #5 of the LoneWolf series, ShadowOnTheSand

Thanks - that's what I was hoping for... since I've seen so many threads about plugin not working

I think it's so good I've even stuck it on the Wiki

- although I have found one small alteration that I think is needed

IF the 'ini' is missing or is not the EXACT same name as the nds file you'll get the orange ' ?'

With TunaVids (on DSi) I get an error "couldn't allocate file buffer" and it won't start.
Is this a plugin related error or did I do something wrong?
I put the plugin files and the .nds file in the _dstwoplug folder, there was nothing else in the package.
Anyone have an idea on how to fix it?

Has anyone else had that problem with DSi?

It hasn't been tested yet so it's a possibility it doesn't work, can anyone else can confirm this please?

(Thus contradicting Cannonfoddr's statement

Okay, thanks you two. I appreciate the replies.

Now, since the XL has this screen refresh problem thingy, does this mean I have to be careful about which plug-ins I use? And only plug-ins? Do I also have to be careful about which roms I use?

Thanks again.

Yep - I'm getting the same thing - but I did notice something else - it also says 'TunaVids for Moonshell' as well
So I'm guessing that whoever supplied the link for TunaVid program has supplied the wrong one

However there may be a work around
  • Download this Tunavid
  • Extract 'tuna-open.nds' into '/_dstwoplug/' folder
  • Extract 'tuna-vid.nds' to the root
  • RENAME the 'Tuna-vid.ini' to 'Tuna-open.ini'
  • Place an AVI anywhere you like
Note that you MAY need to convert your videos into a suitable AVI format - Info can be found here

I haven't actually tried converting a video to AVI using FFMPEG (I tried a couple other methods though)
On one attempt (using 'Super C') - I got as far as selecting a AVI but then it faulted out for 'Not enough video data'
On the second attempt (using tunebite) - I got a message stating 'Not 256px wide' but the program DID start & attempted to play the video - just that it was 'corrupted' on playback

EDIT: Found out I did something wrong on my Second Encoding attempt - tried again, but this time the video WAS 256x192 - & it worked !!!

That's OK, hope it works for you (you may've missed my Edit above)

Anyway - I've also noticed that the 'icon' graphics wasn't properly done either (no Border around it), so I've updated the original Tunavid Plugin so that you don't need to rename 'tuna-vid.ini' to 'tunavid-open.ini' etc (Installation instruction included in new plugin)

12894-Tuna-open.JPG
Tuna-Vid (Multimedia): Plugin / Program [DSL/DSi] Note: Videos MUST be AVI & 256x192 in size

p.s. I've also added new plugin to Wiki & altered the program link to 'proper' Tuna-vid version on the older one as well

i was just messing with tuna vids earlier this week.
i havent tried the sc2 plug-in yet, but for me i was only able to get the moonshell version running good, the stand-alones video output was super slow-mo for some reason.

edit: FYI, for user convenience ive just updated teh VatoPacks to include program links (via text documents) for every plugin, separated by category (3Dshooters, Apps, Arcade, Emulators, Games, Media/internet)
