Does this game have a channel that will keep track of Online play or something like the Mario Kart Wii Channel? I thought I remembered seeing a SSBB channel WAD around the net!

No, Super Smash Bros. Brawl does not have a channel that can be installed from the disc and track online play.

I think I recall a homebrew app called Brawl Stats.

Yup you can find it through homebrew browser. works pretty well, but it basically just lists tons and tons of stats about your savegame that brawl doesn't show ingame
