Research team over at ULCA were able to create an OLED that can stretch, this is the first of its kind, manufacturers in the past have been able to make bendable ones, but never stretch
why is this good?
"Stretchable electronics promise video displays that could be rolled up and tucked into a shirt pocket, or cell phones that could swell or shrink. Electronic sheets that could be draped like cloth would be a boon for robotic skin and embedded medical devices. "
This OLED that they made can be stretch up to 45% while still emitting light

plausible to have thinner phones, devices that have less OLED, so cheaper

That plus stretchable electronics plus piezo-electric stretch cells plus stretchable solar cells (plus some fabric, for tensile strength) = computer in a T-shirt.

It can never ever be washed, though

That sounds pretty awesome, actually. I know Sony patented something similar a bit ago; I hope that means we might see this relatively soon.

Imagine, your phone in your pocket, you take it out, and you..

..unfold it? :wtf:

The problem is when this tech will come into use.
I was thinking more like eBook readers or eNewspaper (If it exists) readers.

Reading a digital newspaper/magazine via foldable/stretchable OLED would be awesome
