Steam has been changing, lately. Especially since its controversial brush with adult games that lead to the company having a more "open" mindset and allowing all games, regardless, instead of individually curating each entry on the Steam Store. This has caused some backlash amongst users who wish to not see certain types of genre of game on the store. And as of now, Steam has addressed those concerns by adding in a new filtering system. Users can block up to 10 genre tags in order to prevent certain types of games appearing on the storefront. "Adult" and "mature" game filter options were also implemented, the first of which prevents games with sexual content from appearing in your recommendation list, and the latter, which is a filter for overly violent games. Alternatively, you can block an entire publisher or developer from showing up on your customized store browsing. This is yet another step in the direction of Valve opting to have its users curate the Steam Store, rather than Valve needing to individually address titles and remove certain types of games.

Well, that seems to be the downside. Less people going out of there preferred games.

With the wording of the title, I thought that Steam was going to allow you to hide games that were below "good" rating.

A free ecosystem that allows you to see only what you wish to see, without restricting what's allowed on the platform. Nice.

We need private game history options too, like removing games from your playtime records and hiding achievements from your feed. I don't need it to hide anything but I'm sure it has its uses beyond privacy, like cleaning up achievement statistics on your profile.

Speaking of revolutionary changes... May I again suggest to add a dislike button to the Temp?

I don't see why optional changes should be something to grumble about.

As war against DRM continues, I’m glad to see Valve is trying their best to be as user friendly as possible.

Well, time to purge out the trash. Maybe then I’ll get some actual recommendations!

Hmhm. Do I filter out RTS, Hidden Object, Parkour, MOBA, Lovecraftian, Otome...?

If only I could separate the bigger visual novels rich with glorious artwork, from short kinetic junk made for pennies.
