I hope its Start 8 styled. I would rather just automatically open the Metro in a small space on the screen (like with Start 8s options) then have it fullscreened or as the legacy menu.

You're going to get one better than that. I'll open the standard Windows 8 start screen in FULL screen.

It's basically an icon that mimics the action of pressing the start key on your keyboard.

And here I was just getting used to regular windows 8 lol. Oh well this can only be a plus and make my life easier than having to remember all of the Windows 8 shortcuts

Great, they've done another Vista/Win7. Well at least this time around people are getting the upgrade for free :)
Also pretty sure this was announced a while ago.

They actually stopped using the name "Metro"...the Windows 8 start screen is simply called the 'Start Screen', and Metro apps are called 'Windows 8 apps'.
And it gets so much undeserved hate. Is it really that bad to have all your apps on one screen instead of scrolling through a menu list?
It's more about how the start screen and apps are completely isolated from the desktop. And the layout is really space wasting and will take ages to scroll if you have a lot of apps.
Edit: Also it's confusing to people used to earlier versions.

I've used Windows all my life. I had a rig running 2000 and then upgraded to XP, my moms PC ran Win 7 (which I used to do a great deal of my work on.) and my current Laptop uses Win8. It took me about a hour to learn how to use it, and a week to get used to it. Its seriously not that confusing to use.

If anything, I found Start menu replacements like Classic Shell to be annoying and harder to set up and use then the new screen itself. The only replacement I still have is Start 8 so I boot to desktop and disable the hot corners in it. The actual button just opens up the Metro search screen.

Just use the Start menu, as a start menu. Thats all.

Yay. Just got a Windows 8 laptop and I already miss the Start menu.

Now bring back the Aero functionality Windows Vista/7 had and I'll be very happy.

I pin all my shortcuts to my start menu in Windows 7, because it keeps them hidden and out of the way. So fuck Microsoft for removing something I use daily hourly.

You can do the EXACT same thing in Win 8. You right click a shortcut it says PIN TO START.

"The new tip appears anytime you move the mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen, and is always visible on the taskbar when on the desktop."

On current versions of Windows 8, the start tip would only appear when users hovered their cursor over the lower-left corner of their screen.

In the 8.1 update, the area will be more visible.

A left-click on the tip will bring up a tile-based Start Screen - formerly known as the Metro interface - designed for touch-screen users.

A right-click will display a small menu of other options such as Event Viewer, Device Manager and Disk Management.

Another change will allow users to boot their computers directly into desktop mode, meaning they can avoid ever using the Start Screen if they wish.

I agree with you about the apps, although they really were just designed for tablets. Most users just stick to using the desktop anyways, especially since programs like Office 2013 are designed for desktop.

They're fixing the Start screen though. There is a new setting that lets you set your Start Screen wallpaper to match your desktop wallpaper, and this makes it feel less like a separate screen and more like tiles are simply appearing on top of your desktop. And the tiles will be able to be shrunk to quarter-size, so space will no longer be an issue. They're also making the search feature more unified and easier to use.
