Having some issues doing anything after installing HBC. I used beta53-alt.

What I considered to be the easiest thing to get working on the Wii has been very difficult on the vWii. Downloaded the latest Homebrew Browser, when it was connected and not returning errors, it downloaded some files and kicked me to a screen with vertical colored bars then to a stack dump. Tried a basic 2gb SD card and a 4gb microSDHC with adapter.
Tried copying emulators from my Wii SD card, just gave me black screens. Didn't use any forwarders, just launched out of HBC.

Moved on, decided to figure it out later. Went on to WiiFlow with a powered HDD that worked on the Wii. Found the files right away, tried Mario Galaxy, forced back to system menu. Did this a couple more times with other games, usually back to system, or black screen.
Thought it was the HDD, tried a USB stick. After reformatting a bunch and using different means to put the games on it, never got it to work past detection once or twice.
Then tried Geometry War Galaxies (small Wii game) on the microSDHC. Found it easily, stack dump, or black screen.

Couldn't even get USB Loader GX to work at all. Powered HDD, stick, or on the card.

At this point I consider my options to be to install beta52 over beta53-alt and see if that fixes any issues. Then try a different powered HDD as Fat32 or formatted as wbfs to see if it will work with WiiFlow or USB Loader.

Maybe someone could point me in the right direction about these issues, maybe it's just some settings giving me issues, or maybe I have to keep my Wii around for homebrew purposes.

It almost sounds like you're using an incompatible cIOS... are you for certain you used the vWii versions of beta52/beta53-alt?
I used the installer from the guide. There were only two options, beta52-vWii or beta53-alt-vWii. Maybe I should try https://code.google.com/p/d2x-cios/downloads/list and download them myself out of a package and retry. I assume running the d2x cIOS installer and putting the new files in the same location won't hurt anything?

Yeah, you can't hurt anything with d2x since it only allows you to install at slots >=200

Also make sure you're using the correct bases when re-installing, and make sure you select the correct cIOS to install (as opposed to leaving it at the default "d2x v5" or whatever it defaults to)

Ok, I was just planning on doing the other version, beta52 vWii, and following the guide, rewriting beta53-alt.

@Sicklyboy, Sorry to hear. I had a 1989 Ford F150 pickup I finally sent to junkyard past summer. Threw a rod in it, n not worth buying new engine when rusty body barely hanging on. I only used it rarely on property to haul stuff like firewood, so was not big deal.

@BigOnYa, shame to hear. Sure that thing treated you well over the years. Not sure of the exact cause of death of mine but it's reluctant to start and has a metal on metal squeal from the motor and developed a knock all of a sudden. Got it towed to my mechanic, its hard to crank by hand, and when he threw his booster pack on it the starter let out the magic smoke 😂😂

20 years old, 250k miles, got to drive it cross country once, had a junkyard motor put in it a few years back. Treated me mostly well but not without its fair share of headaches. Regardless, it had a small amount of frame rot, and that right there alone is enough to sign the death warrant.

On the bright side I'm getting $500 in scrap for it and saving $60 a month on my insurance by dropping it.
