Wow, man, that looks pretty sweet. Wonder if you could eventually shop it around to a DSiWare publisher. Even as $2 game, you make a little something off of it.

I like both shootem'up of the competition, but they are both so hard !
I didn't pass level 2 yet.

I'll try the new ship

I hope it's moving a little faster. Items to boost speed along with weapon would be great, but it's just my gradius/Lifeforce power-up habit

I really liked this game, until I got to the monkat boss.
Then I immediately lost interest and deleted it from my SD. Congrats on ruining a perfectly good game (and nice work up until that point).

YEAH!!!!!
Nemesis-Salamander-Vulcan Venture RULES

I particularly enjoy destroying that boss, lol. Especially when piloting the 'Loco' Viper =D

Blame Rydian. j/k

GeekyGuy: Konami would likely be pissed because of this version.

Cyan: Hope the "autobomb" feature helps. ;*)

I tested it.
The new ship is faster, I like it
biggrin.gif

I was surprised by the auto-bomb the first time but it's nice, it's like a second chance when you are hit.

Edit1:
Maybe you could separate the high-score into 3 charts
One per ship, as they play differently I think it's best to compare the user's rank by comparing it with the same ship.
(you can keep the merged one and add one for each ship too: all/blue/red/loco)

Edit2:
The custom controls are not saved when exiting the game.
Previous player name is not memorized either for high-score name input.

Edit3:
I think the power ups are not well balanced as you always get them at full power at the start. (3 of them on the 3 first enemies)
The player always play the same way from the start, there's no differences on each party, even on each game over it's power up right at new lives.
I don't know how you could set them (random? with a % of chance to get it? based on the number of killed enemies? on a specific enemy?)
It's just ideas, if you don't like it don't mind.

Thanks. The auto-bomb feature was Pm'ed to me from another site. :*)

Will do. So that would be boss rush* 3 ships, normal *3 ships, all. 7 High score tables. I will need to change the UI to manual for this to work though. Is is alright if I do that?

Will add those features. BTW, what do you mean by "not memorized"?

Hmn, the power up system is based off the strikers 1945 series where you are almost always a full power to be able to quick-kill the enemies that in effect limits the bullets on screen. I'll try to balance it more though(probably removing those power-ups at the start of stages and spawning just one powerup when you get killed).

Wasim: Any suggestions on "easy mode"? I the auto-bomb feature plus the size of Loco Viper makes is really easy now.

Can't make anything this week though as my wife's uncle died(98 years old) and I'll be busy driving relatives back and forth to the wake. ;*(

But keep the suggestions coming as I'll still be online using my phone(Gbatemp actually works well with Opera Mini).

Thank you for taking the ideas in consideration.

About memorized, I mean when you quit the game and launch it again another day, you have to set the controls option again, it's reset to default. (B= fire, A= bomb)
and about the player name, it's the same, you have to scroll through all the letters to write the name, while usually, it's the same player using the DS. well in my case I'm the only player. saving the last player name in the save file will be great.

For the high-score I think manual will be better yes.
I have different ideas for the layout:
Mode 1 (7 tables) :
L/R : Change between all/boss/Normal (you can use the current horizontal scrolling effect)
Right/Left d-Pad : Select the ship

Mode 2 (8 tables) :
L/R : Change between Boss / normal (keep the horizontal scrolling effect)
up/left & right/down d-Pad : select the ship (All/red/blue/viper) like on ship selection screen: no scrolling effect, direct text replacing. it's faster to compare scores.

Mode 3 (8 tables) :
Up/down : change Boss / normal (scroll the screen vertically)
Right/Left D-pad : Select ship (All/red/blue/viper), use current horizontal scroll effect to change the ship table.

Mode 4 (8 tables) :
A button: change Boss / normal (fade in/out effect, or scrolling, like you prefer)
Right/left/up/down d-Pad : select the ship (All/red/blue/viper) : no scrolling effect, direct text replacing. it's faster to compare scores back and forth.

I prefer mode 3 or 4.
That's just some ideas to keep your current system with table scrolling.

another idea : print the currently selected ship sprite in upper left corner (when not "all").

About the power ups, don't change it if you think it's part of the game to feel like strikers 1945.

Wow! I actually won! I literally shook-up when I found out about it. I was responding to a pm with my hand shaking.

Congratualtions to all who participated in the bounty.

I would like to thank all the testers, the video uploaders, the people who suggested stuff, the people who commented and reported bugs, etc. For without you, Space Impakto would suck as a game.

I still remember my first forays into DS coding over a year ago when my daughter asked me to make a DS game:

http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=17202&highlight=

The journey was very hard but with the help of the community, I became better at it.

Now I could buy that 3DS my daughter always wanted. Thank you very much!

Special thanks to Modariffic.com as they are sending me a 3DS compatible Supercard for free. Thanks!

1. Cyan's new high-score set-up(almost done)
2. Cheat code (for wasim). You can't get to the 2nd loop when you enable cheat though.
3. 2-player cooperative via wi-fi if the office my wife works would permit me to use their wifi.

Well done
yaynds.gif
I'm happy for you

Co-op over wifi? what a great idea!
Let me know if you need someone to try it/debug. (I already have a lot of things to do but I'll be happy to help again).

Is there an automatic score sending over wifi?
You gave a forum link, but I think there's no wifi menu in the game.
It would be a great addition to send score to a server. (but people will just cheat submission, right?)

And I don't know why, but with Arsenal the wifi never worked. maybe because I'm playing on my 3DS? (DS network setting is set correctly).
Edit: ah, it worked once, I could download a zip file but it didn't download it fully and the file was corrupted even on computer.

I couldn't say, I don't have a 3DS, and I've never had any problems with arsenal's wifi myself. :/ (but even if you don't have wifi you can still submit scores by uploading replay files here : http://smealum.net/arsenal_beta/?p=replay

)

Anyway, 2 player coop over wifi would definitely be awesome ! I thought about doing such a thing for arsenal actually, but after thinking about it I realized it would be really hard to get good enough coordination to insure the game runs well... But I can't wait to see how you're going to do it !

Congratulations, the prize was no doubt well deserved.

Really looking forward to see more of your work in the future.

Yeahh!!!

Your program is awesome, and amazing how you have improved your knowledge from april 2010

what make your prize more AWESOME

had been those fantastic competitors. The best hombrew bounty i have never seen.
Usually, only one or two programs has some quality and the rest was a bluff (with all my respect for their works), but now i'm happy with not be a judge here.

Finally, C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! !
