I’ve been working on Jak Project Switch, an unofficial Nintendo Switch port of the OpenGOAL project:
https://github.com/fildicio/jak-project-switch
All three Jak games are now bootable on Nintendo Switch, and I’ve been focusing heavily on squeezing as much performance as possible out of the hardware while keeping the CPU overclock as low as possible.
Right now, the main target is:
720p @ 30 FPS
1080p output with FSR
Jak I is already basically achieving a locked 30 FPS with the current changes, and I'm working on getting Jak II and Jak 3 to the same level. The goal is to have similar results for the other two games by the end of next week.
I'm trying to squeeze every bit of performance I can get while using the minimum CPU overclock possible. The idea isn't just to throw more CPU power at the problem — I'm looking at loading, asset compression, rendering, FSR and other areas to get the best performance possible from the hardware.
And one thing I want to be transparent about:
I'm primarily a frontend developer, not a low-level graphics/engine developer. A lot of this project has been made possible with the help of AI-assisted development, using VS Code as my main development environment. I've been learning and experimenting as I go, working through the OpenGOAL codebase and figuring out how to make it work efficiently on Switch hardware.
So this project is very much a combination of experimentation, reverse engineering, OpenGOAL, Switch homebrew, and AI-assisted development.
The setup/build guidelines are included in the GitHub repository, so if you want to try it yourself, the instructions are there:

The project does not distribute Sony/Naughty Dog game assets. You need to provide the required game data from a copy you legally own.
If you're interested in Switch homebrew, OpenGOAL, reverse engineering, optimization, or Jak & Daxter, check it out and let me know what you think!

Current optimizations
All three Jak games are bootable
Native Nintendo Switch .nro builds
ARM64 support
Saves and settings
FSR upscaling
CPU boost/overclock tuning
Compressed game assets to reduce slowdowns when loading new areas
Jak I already has the latest optimizations

What's next?
Once the current implementation is in a good place, I may look at rewriting parts of the backend using Deko3D to see how much further the Switch-specific rendering pipeline can be optimized. And one thing I want to be transparent about:
