To answer your question though, i use a mod of @Aurora Wright reinand to do it.

Cheers! When you say mod do you mean you edited Auroras build or just used it as he/she puts it out? I tried it yesterday with your payload and failed lol. I probably done something wrong though.

Nah i asked Aurora nicely on irc to make a sysnand only build for me.
I can share the bin file if you want, only works on n3ds though.

Yeah I'm on N3DS. If the bin file is arm9loaderhax.bin I managed to get that from you on the previous pages. As Rei build is private I'll just keep waiting to see if a sysnand build is ever made public. Cheers

Yeah the bin file is arm9loaderhax.bin and if it's the same one (probably is) then it should boot to sysnand.

With the default Aurora files? Sorry man this is where I got confused. Wasn't sure if you meant the bin file was made for you or if the actual build of Rei as well. If it's the bin AND a build of Rei I'll maybe go ask Aurora nicely.

Just want to get my 3DS off this lovely black screen I can't do anything with. Does deserve me right for not doing all my homework properly and understanding how the payloads work and that if I had an emunand I would have been fine right now haha.

The bin file, well the build.. was made upon request by me to aurora. I just extracted the payload section from the reinand.dat file they gave me. and used their rei folder too.

If you want to boot to sysnand with reinand just use that build. It works fine, nothing specific to me in it or anything lol

With help from @Shadowtrance I finally have this N3DS booting again. Running Rei on sysnand. Think I'll just walk away for a while though to see how arm9 development continues. Guess I could setup an emunand again but ultimately I'd like to stay on CFW sysnand.

Which firmware.bin did you use?

I think arm9loaderhax should be better to boot into emunand，it is much easier to restore emunand than sysnand.

For those of us with no hardmod, it's probably more ideal than a sysNAND CFW like some seem to want, at least for now, until we get FIRM blocking via A9LH (so sysnand updates don't erase/remove it).

For some reason my 3DS will not remember the default theme I use, keeps reverting back to default every boot. Is there a bug with the arm9/Rei combo or is it something on my end? Cheers

Wouldn't have thought so, I injected an emunand backup from before when they were unlinked. Maybe they are somehow linked again :/

Use tiny format to format synand then try again
